That's even more so when the road game is a distant one. It's actually the opposite with NFL fans. You should see all of the Steeler and Packer fans when they play the Cowboys. The majority aren't season ticker holders that flew in for the weekend. They are blue collar people that started saving when the schedule came out. Some probably nixed their Bossier City casino vacation plans in lieu of those tickets.

By the simple fact that it costs much much more money to go to a college game or for college season tickets, the nfl is trashier. It's more accessible.

If you are going to a big sec team and you don't live in the city of the game, you will

Spend $500 for two nights in a hotel room
A portion of the $1200 it cost you to buy season tickets or $120 for single game tickets
At least $150 in food and alcohol
Gas (it costs me $100 in gas to go to a game)
Tailgate costs
$20-60 in parking

One guy told me he averaged 3000 per game to take his family 3-4 times a year.

I had a fan of an sec team tell me it costs at least $200,000 for the rights to tailgate where he did. I know another guy who told me there were uga tailgate spots that went for 45k for a 12-12 spot.

I don't see any of this in the nfl.

NCAA seems to draw more educated fans because people went to school there; that's why I would say NFL is more trashier

NFL has more trash in the stadiums. I'd say your average sidewalk NCAA fan is trashier though

I think this is dead on.

Depends on the area of the country-- and if we can restrict it to sidewalks -- if you count alumni its definitely the NFL but non-Alumni, non-college grad fans can be creepily obsessive and weird, especially the people who obsess over recruiting (if you're 40 and you're following a non-related high schooler you've never met on Facebook and Twitter that's weird, it just is).

Bama fans take things to another level, Updyke, the running of the Gumps, the obvious pay-offs. The only thing comparable is maybe OSU fans (for peak horrible it was hard to top Jameis-era FSU fans though)

Go visit a men's room at Tiger Stadium in the fourth quarter and then come back and tell me the NFL is trashier.

I'm just thinking about it.

After moving to Houston, id say NFL and it really isn't close. NCAA fans seem to me more of your good ol' boys while die hard NFL fans seen to be your jersey, flat bill wearing tatted up types. I can sit here at a random bar and have an educated conversation with a die hard Aggie, but try and talk to a rabid Texans fan and I feel like my IQ as well as social status drops several points.

Costs can be the same for an NFL game. The same costs don't just go away if you are an NFL fan.

Now tailgating spot costs can vary I'm sure. We pay $50-60 a spot each game or $600 a season to reserve our tailgating spot. We reserved 2 spots.

That really depends on the college team and NFL team. If you look at per game basis a suite at Tiger Stadium is pretty comparable to the Superdome while the same thing in Houston is 10k more per game.

NFL fans rival European soccer fans as the worst fans in all of sports.

I didn't realize there was this much hate between college and NFL fans.

I'm fans of both. Guess that makes me really trashy.
