My son was on his way to Oregon in his Rav4 when the transmission went out in San Antonio . Metal shavings in the tr. fluid. 3500 to 5k to repair. Had 160 k miles on it. So not all Toyotas last forever.

6 speed transmission?

If so it's the shitty torque converter that gm used. Just had to replace the one in my wife's Tahoe 2 weeks ago at 100000 miles. Had to replace the one in my truck a few years ago at 87000 miles.

Same here. Started noticing a noise every so often when accelerating lightly. Torque converter issue. It was all under warranty so had the transmission rebuilt. Only 55K miles.

78K honestly best thing I found to do, is a complete trans flush… and put in the Mobile HP trans fluid back in instead of the dextron 6… anything over 110K miles I wouldn’t recommend a complete fluid flush, I would recommend like someone else said, drop the pan, replace the filter, add 4 qts back in, that way it doesn’t wash the the clutches out…

FYI cost was $4000 two weeks ago.

For the rebuild and all the labor?

Yep, that was out the door.

That's a great price! I thought it would be about 8k. It's cheaper to do major repairs on cars these days than buying a new or used car.

My GM dealer wants $7500 before taxes to replace mine on a 2014. Feels like I'm being taken to the woodshed.

Pretty terrible it has to be replaced at 130k.

Between that and all the lifter failures...why does anyone buy these heaps?

Being he’s the head mechanic at a GM shop, it would seem a conflict.

GM should be reported for putting ***** transmissions in their $85k vehicles.

Whelp, wife called today and said transmission slipped and wouldn't get into drive. She had to stop, turn off car, put back in neutral, and back into drive for it to work. Worked fine since. The code came back a P0747
