I’m happy to say on here that I will be transferring from ULL to LSU after this semester and will begin with the summer term in 2014

Welcome to college. I know some folks who couldn't get into LSU right away and went to BRCC and UL-Lafayette for a year. No shame in that.

Maybe from your own experiences or recommendations, any “quality” (as Les would say) apartments to check out this spring? And other must-do activities when I get there. I’ll be turning 21 this summer as well so I think I’ll have a great fall

There's some new ones off Ben Hur that are supposed to be decent. The Cottages or something.

If I were you, I'd honestly try to rent a place in Spanish Town or Beauregard Town if you can find a couple of roommates. If you are old enough to legally drink (unlike Lafayette, Baton Rouge bars card regularly), downtown can be a nice place to live and it's near campus.

However, seeing my friends have a lot of fun at LSU and getting VERY, VERY bored in Lafayette (there's nothing to do here), it hit me like a brick that I’m ready to settle in the Capitol City, leave the nest, and really become a Tiger.

Welcome to Baton Rouge. If you ever find yourself missing the crowd from UL-Lafayette, there's an Abercrombie and Fitch in the Mall of Louisiana that will feel just like home.

Anyone know if these new apartments are any good? It's walking distance to the 3rd street bars and across the street from where the new Matherne's grocery store is going in on 3rd and Main.

Live in university view on east boyd or Burbank estates. Become a bogies regular. Hit JLs on Fridays for free drinks - best pregame there is.

Go to Fred's every Friday. Get a gameday steak on Saturday home games.

Congrats.. Grew up in Lafayette and graduated from LSU. Lots of LSU envy in Lafayette. I know you aren't subject to that. You referred to the school by it's proper name. (ULL) My parents still live in Lafayette and occasionally tell me about things going on there. When they say "UL" I automatically reply "Louisville?".

You made a great choice. LSU is special. Dorm life for a year isn't bad. In fact I did my year of dorm life as a Jr. Figured I needed to get that in and so glad I did. I have heard Tigerland is the DMZ. My off campus housing locations Gardere lane, Tiger land and Aster St are all high crime areas. Ask friends and counselors. They will point you in the right direction.

Congrats on being a Tiger
