I got into an argument yesterday when a couple of guys were saying not to pay the ticket, you don't have to. He started going on and on about how there's no reason to pay it because they don't have the right to do it.

I told him that's some hippie bull shite,he said there's nothing hippie about violating constitutional rights...who's right?

Don’t pay them.

But don’t blame me when your car gets booted or towed.

I didn't pay mine, 98% of people I talk to claim they don't pay theirs. It's a civil matter, and even still, from my understanding, they can't report it to credit bureaus for one reason or another

Don’t pay them. Unless you’re in Nola. Then you should just grab the lube now

If they don't physically hand it to you to confirm you were served, you can just say you never got it. I thonk it goes away after 120 days or so.

It might go from a $120 ticket to $500 with interest

You don't have to pay in the same sense of that the city doesn't have to let your car stay in the place they find it parked, or release your car back to you after you pay the fine and the towing fee.

I have two tickets I didn’t pay from a car that I traded in a couple months ago. All new plates with this new car. Do they rollover? Was wondering this the other day

I’ve gotten at least 6-7 over the years. Never paid one and never had an issue

I have never paid one. I have gotten 30+ for rolling right on red.

Zero repercussions.

FWIW, I had an unpaid camera ticket I got on Camellia Blvd. in Lafayette that showed up on my credit report. Apparently it is easier to put something on a credit report then get it taken off.

In Orleans Parish, the "meter maids" drive around with a license plate scanner and if you have unpaid tickets, your car gets booted. Then you have to pay the tickets, late fees and boot removal fee.

Orly?

You should tell the people who spend 600+ every day getting boots pulled from their cars all over the CBD.

NOLA has a total of 14 plate reader vehicles rolling 24/7.

What if I don’t pay the civil penalty? Failure to respond within 30 days of the issuance of the Delinquent Notice will cause this matter to be submitted to a professional collection agency in accordance with applicable state and federal collection laws and a $75.00 penalty will be added to the fine amount.
