Or, you just drive a different vehicle when visiting Nola.

I think you're mistaken thinking that they just magically disappear.

I got one a few years ago at the light turning left onto College Drive off the interstate heading east. Definitely watch yourself at that intersection. That's the only one I've gotten, but I went ahead and paid it. I didn't want that worry lingering over my head.

It's not a driving issue but a parking issue.

If you are parked on the street and not in someone's driveway or a pay parking lot, that's when you have to worry. See my comment about "meter maids" scanning license plates.

I've got two (so far) that are outstanding. I know this has been a pretty hot/ frequent topic here...so, I'll often go back and read the old threads.

My ex has been getting the notices, and are in her name. She's been telling me to take care of them...so, I tell her to give me the tickets...but I keep throwing them away.

I'm sure these notices are going to continue to happen, but I'm trusting you MF's not to steer me in the wrong direction here. The only concern I have is it hitting mine or her credit - like they've threatened to do in the second notice.

I'd respond to them to put the tickets in my name - to get her off my arse about paying them. But I really don't want to acknowledge the receipt of them.

Councilman Ryan Heck, who has advocated for discontinuing the program, said red-light camera tickets have nothing to do with driver safety.

“We’re too afraid to do the right thing because we want the money,” Heck said. “I advise everybody to not pay them. Ever.”

The whole thing is fricking bullshite. My wife has one I'm not paying in BR. They send the fine to me because the car is in my name. She was driving because it's her car. I don't ever drive the car. Police don't ticket cars, they ticket drivers.

The tickets are associated with your license plate.

Take the plate off your car, throw it in the trash and go get a different license plate by saying it was stolen off your car.

This is how you you avoid paying tickets associated with traffic cameras.

It would take the agencies involved way too long to associate the old plate with the new plate and transfer any fines.

The most accurate statement on this thread. This administration may not enforce it, but I promise you they do not just disappear and have no doubt that one day another admin will see they have a few 100k in outstanding camera tickets and begin to enforce.

Yes, of course, officers wait for the driver to reappear before issuing parking tickets /sarcasm

What, they boot a vehicle because you own it, even though said vehicle was not involved in any citation?

This is courtesy of Will Cover. I bookmarked this a few years ago when he originally posted it. Have never paid any tickets and have suffered no repercussions whatsoever.

quote:
Baton Rouge red light cameras

1. Real tickets will instruct you to contact the court to resolve matter in question while fake tickets (ATS and RedFlex) may tell you not to contact the court. Fake tickets are sent via regular US Postal Mail service, but appear to be "official," which they are not. Criminal citations are sent by registered or certified mail.

2. In Louisiana, RLC and speed camera citations are NOT a criminal offense. They are treated as CIVIL matter, partly because the OWNER of the vehicle is issued the citation (doesn't matter who is driving) and if contested, you won't be awarded the opportunity to go before a judge. Instead, you will have a hearing with an Administrative Adjudication officer (city appointed).

3. CIVIL offenses are NOT reported to the Louisiana DMV or your insurance company.

4. In Baton Rouge, city officials will NOT turn over your Social Security Number to a private company (ATS and RedFlex).

5. If unpaid fine goes on your credit report, simply dispute online with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Ask them to investigate and validate the debt owed. ATS and RedFlex must provide proof that you entered into an agreement for goods or services or signed promissory note.

6. If threatened with a collection notice or a harassing phone call, do the math. ATS and RedFlex send out thousands upon thousands citations each and every day. This is profitable for them to do, because many people are scared into thinking they have to pay (the media plays a large part in this) and because it's the "right thing to do." But think about the numbers ...

In Los Angeles alone, there are over 50 K red light camera tickets that remain unpaid. In Nassau County, the county has failed to collect on $10 million in unpaid red light camera fines. And in East Baton Rouge parish alone, almost half of the red light tickets for CITY PARISH vehicles have NOT been paid.

One Rule for the City of Baton Rouge. Another rule for the citizens of Baton Rouge.

What's the bottom line? If you think for one minute that a company such as ATS or RedFlex, both of whom are located out of state, are going to take the time, energy and resources (think out of state costs, attorney fees and court cost) to go after you in a court of law for a fine of less than $500.00, pay it.

But if you're like me and are willing to take the "risk," toss it and go on with your life, but for the love of God, please don't create one more post about red light or speed cameras!

My wife has gotten 3 or 4 of them. Some are from 3-4 years ago. We haven't paid them. In BR they don't do anything. They'll boot you in Nola.

I think you're completely full of shite...if not paying the ticket could evolve into a criminal matter, the 3rd party company out of Arizona would plaster it in red and neon yellow all over every letter they sent you
