The 2.7 F150 gets about 1mpg better than the 5.0. It's really nothing, or close to nothing for most people.

My 2021 silvarado 1500 with v8 gets 19mpg. I would not trade my v8 for a v6 for 22mpg. frick that.

Toyota is certainly having some issues with the Tundra. Boeing is indeed lost.

I have a 21 Limited with Nightshade in Metallic Grey. It's always for sale for the right offer.

Turbos are inherently less reliable over time and run hotter than a V8,
bet less than 2% on here even know what turbo really means. yeah adding more oxygen to fuel will make it hotter. that only matters if it's not calculated into what's needed to handle the heat

Damn. I thought the engines been used overseas for years? What a travesty. Ford advertised similar fuel mileage in the early 1980’s as all this turbo shite today with their 300 straight 6. Of course the turbos do a lot more hp/speed-wise with the mileage though

Every vehicle has its faults, some more than others. Engineers and government regulations have made building a reliable vehicle today on day 1 nearly impossible. You have to install complex systems to meet certain CAFE standards and emissions requirements. You also have complex sensors on vehicles for lane avoidance that may have worked on a test track but fail in the real world. And you have designers and engineers when the pack it all together under the hood put things in places that are difficult to access without having to remove other parts and making a job that should take a half hour take a full day or more.

Yep. Those old Ford motors were really sturdy and very smooth. They had packaging issues that lead them to replace it with the very meh 4.0L V6. GM had a 250 and 292 I-6 from the mid 20th century that were also legendary.

Also the I-6 configuration seems to be going away. The only newer ones I can think of are the Duramax Turbodiesel from GM and the new Hurricane I-6 from Stellantis. Both seem to be very good engines, but both are too long for anything but full sized trucks and SUVs (or in GM’s case, cab over medium duty trucks).

Hideous front end with a flawed engine. They have a real winner on their hands!

Replaced my 2012 with a 2021 5.7 v8 because it was the last year of the model. I plan on it to last until I die 15 years from now.

Also, GM wouldn’t recall but would deny there are problems.

Yep, local shop said they get 4-5 cars per week with the same torque converter issue with their transmissions. This is on slightly older models though, like 2012-2018 or something

Yeah they have a new main bearing cap design for the turbo motors. It’s likely the cause of these failures. There is more strain on the bottom end with turbo motors. They have to design for that.

Not sure what is going wrong with turbochargers or all the body work. Probably a combination of design issues and build quality problems.

Starting to think that my 4Runner’s bulletproof reliability has more to do with it being such an old, proven design rather than Toyota’s engineering or manufacturing prowess.

It doesn't look like the Hybrid is part of this recall. I traded in my 2019 GMC Sierra because it was starting to have Transmission issues and got a 2023 Tundra Limited Hybrid and I went to the recall website, punched in my VIN and there was nothing there. I'm thinking this is for the non-hybrid engines, hopefully.

Just bought my third Tundra. 2024 1794 edition with the turbo V6. I gave my 2015 to my son when he turned 16 last week. Definitely would have preferred the V8 but interest rates for pre-owned were obscene. I sure hope they have it all figured out by the 2024 models. I have had zero issues with my 2008 and the 2015 Tundras.
