a new armada will tow that effortlessly.

The Armada has an 8,500 lb tow limit.

Which is much more than 6000lbs.

Saw this earlier and thought of this thread. That's over 30k lbs gross.

That is the sign that your vehicle is not made for towing max weight 6000 lbs. Even if it says that it is rated for that weight. Not to mention that is also not safe. If you need to stop fast the boat and trailer will push you into whatever is in front of you

Exactly! When they towed with their 4Runner, just to be safe, they had to take 2 vehicles and bring everything extra in the second vehicle, then transfer everything to the boat after it was in the water. A royal PITA! Still they really felt uncomfortable towing with that 4 Runner. That’s why they’re looking for a better, safer option. Another suggestion in this thread was the Sequoia.

Sure if you have trailer brake failure.

If I'm towing, my trailer brakes are set to ten. And the truck is put in tow mode. If I touch my brake pedal slightly, the truck downshifts, the trailer brakes engage. The truck brakes never even have to apply force.

No. Boat, trailer, fuel, equipment. passengers, ice chests. I figured it all up and it came to around 5200 pounds. I was trying to be conservative. Never wanted it to come down to splitting hairs. I would never want to tow anything “right at” the tow rating for a vehicle. No room for error. Really was just “fishing” for some educated, experienced advice. Didn’t know 2021+ Pathfinder did not have CVT. Just the type of info I was looking for…………..(minus the sarcasm) but I get it. Thanks anyway.

I don't care how you slice it, towing >5k lb+ is fullsize truck/SUV territory. Towing that is borderline with anything less, I don't care what the baws here think they know. If they can afford a 5200 lb boat/trailer, they can afford to be safe towing it.

Expedition/Tahoe/Denali/Armada and you want one with factory tow. If you just really love abysmal MPG, get a 5.7 Sequoia. They still do not have the engines sorted in the new Sequoias.

This is terrible towing advice.

Just get an Armada. They are still made in Japan and tow pretty well. I see a lot of them on the Interstate pulling food trailers.

Nissan does not make a single interesting vehicle. Unless you’re a poor why would you shop there

There is no way in hell I would tow a 6K load with a pathfinder. Maybe once in a emergency but no way on a regular basis.

Literally creates a 60/40 bias. Which is is what you want.

Good try though.

Sure your triball is nice and shiny.

I have a '26 pathfinder. It's a conventional 9 gear, not CVT.
NA v6 supposedly capable of 6k. 4x4 more.

I don't think I'd tow anythnig bigger than a PWC or lawmower with it.

Setting your trailer brakes to 10 is terrible advice. Your trailer should not stop your tow vehicle. That can cause wheel lock up, skipping, flat spots, additional heat in the trailer brake system. You've also created a situation that could end with longer stopping distances.

That's on dry ground, on wet ground you've created a jackknife risk.

It is a good try, your advice goes against every single towing recommendation on brake configuration.

What makes them think that if a 4Runner is squirrelly towing this thing that the Pathfinder would be any better?

They don’t sound like they’re thinking this through at all. And that’s not even getting to the point you made of the boats dry weight being near capacity then factoring in fuel, gear, and the people in the car.

Do they have brakes on this trailer?

I have never heard of this. I am assuming you are referring to what percentage the vehicle applies braking compared to the trailer.

How does setting brake bias to 10 automatically create this 60/40?

Even with the downshifting like he says, if the truck brakes “don’t even have to apply force” that sounds more than 60/40.

I'm poor and I love my '26 Pathfinder Platinum. Also was the same price as a 2026 Ford Explorer so I guess Ford's are for poor people too.

6000 pound

Thats way too much for a pathfinder.

If thats really what it weighs dry, they need a real truck for that. Depending on the tongue weight a suburban might be fine. An express van would probably be ok. A modern 4 door half ton truck might be ok again, depending on tongue weight. A 3/4 ton anything would be plenty ok.

Again, tongue weight matters a lot. Condition of trailer brakes matters a lot (usually total shite on boat trailers).
