Those damn haoles
Beautiful landmark ruined
No stairway for you
Baw, great effort but,
Haole is two syllables,
So not a haiku

Couldn't they...you know, rebuild them?

Yeah but that wouldn't create an opportunity to complain about tourists. This way they can say they're losing something because the tourists ruined it.

How do we know it was tourists leaving trash and such on them when they were open and not locals?
Posted on 4/17/24 at 3:47 pm to John88
Where were you when they tore down the stairway to heaven?
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep?
Did you notice the sunset for the first time in ages
And speak to some stranger on the street?
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun?
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep?
Did you notice the sunset for the first time in ages
And speak to some stranger on the street?

hawaii has completely ruined what was once a great place to take your family.
why dont we just fricking close off all the islands and remove the airports and send everyone back to the land-locked states.
thats what they want..OMG IT MUST BE ALL NATURAL AND FREE FROM THE SCUM OF MAN *
****except for us little elitist pricks who already staked a claim on there..we get to do what we want..just keeps those ships and planes loaded with Mac and Cheese coming our way.

this has nothing to do with tourists and yet everything to do with tourists.

Another issue with those stairs is that there's no place to park your car to walk to the entrance point. The entrance point is in the woods behind a neighborhood. The neighbors get pissed off when people park their cars on their street or if they see you walking through their neighborhood with backpacks on.
There's a road to get to the entrance point, but it's gate off and only the security guards can use it. If you go do the hike you have to make sure the security guard is not sitting in his truck underneath the interstate overpass.
If you go to good maps and type in "Ke Kula 'o Samuel M. Kamakau," look east and you will see the security truck by the H3 overpass.

Why can’t they just clean and maintain it and allow tourists to walk it for an entry fee?
