I don't mind as long as they are well behaved. We get a lot of kids from apartments in the area. Should they just not get to do Halloween because their parents aren't homeowners? Seems kinda cruel. But we hand out the candy.
That’s because you have a heart of gold fallguy.

One of my neighbor's rented an ice cream truck for the kids. Not that gold

For us folks that haven’t been infiltrated yet, this is normal. I left a big bowl with a sign that said “feel free to take a handful”. We were out for 1.5 hrs trick or treating, visiting with neighbors, playing with the kids etc. We still had half a bowl. We’re civilized

You left your home unguarded in BR and all you have to complain about is some missing candy? Sounds like you got lucky.

You show up I will give you candy. I had old “kids” and kids who do not live near me I don’t care. They were polite and nice have some candy.

Block parties and no going to door the way to go.

20 years ago when I lived in Highland Creek it was the same thing. Parents from the Gardere ghetto apartments brought their kids to our neighborhood. It was pretty awesome to make those kids' night of trick or treat knowing the conditions of their own neighborhood.
We get kids from Gardere too. In 16 years of living here we’ve never had a problem with the kids that come in from outside of the neighborhood.

That’s why I just put one of these outside…

Lol you checked the security cameras? Why weren’t you out there? You’re pathetic.

Even 40 years ago, people like were seen as marks by kids—even by the neighborhood kids.

Agreed. We used to leave out bowls when we had young kids but I just assumed it would get wiped out in 30 minutes. Oh well, we tried.

The complexion of Oak Hills changes drastically on Halloween. And I embrace it. All kids deserve a nice Halloween. And they won’t get that in Gardere.
I saw mostly moms with little kids all dressed up and they said thank you.
What grinds my gears is older kids that make no effort and don’t even say thank you.

I kid you not. About 5:45 I hear a knock at the door. I look and see a body shape of a large, coke machine shaped woman, and as I approach the door I see this person has a teenaged face.
I open the door expecting to hear “trick or treat”. Nothing At all. So I asked if I could help her.
She says yes, me and my aunt (no one was around her) were looking for something for Halloween. I said, looking for something ? What exactly do you mean?
She said can we use your golf cart? I said I don’t think that’s a good idea.
She stares at me…….and says thank you and starts to walk off.
I say, thank you for being polite.
I guess candy just isn’t enough these days.

One year at Tulane dorms we hosted some kids from the projects to safely trick or treat thru the dorm. By the time it was done, they had tackled one of the college kids, tried to steal his wallet, and bit him. They also stole several cordless phones on the floor lollll. Tulane decided not to do it again

Then I saw the last group.
What made the first 5 groups "normal kids" and the last group not "normal kids"?

It’s posts like this that make me wish there were more responses than upvote or downvote. Tremendous work.

I do it in my neighborhood and refill the bowl once. Some neighborhoods don’t have I’ll mannered kids…

Yeah, the fat mom that was driving her 4 kids around in the grand prix was disappointing but watching my son in a ghillie suit scare the 4 year old girl so much that she ran to my wife was worth it.
