That would be my only concern. Just the timing of things. Late 20s is always a good time to take some risks but i just wouldn’t want to get caught up in risks that are totally out of my control like a recession

Never had that sort of opportunity, but go listen to The Cape by Guy Clark, and think about whether you believe you can fly.
It's ultimately up to you.
Best of luck!

Regardless of your choice about careers, this is the discussion we should be having about your future in this thread.

I am curious how some of these women are able to justify or get away with not working without kids.

Does she have any education, skills, experience? Or is she just self absorbed and lazy?

Honest questions. Your move.

If you aren’t an owner why would you give a shite about “building a business?”

She was raised in a super conservative Christian home and they believe a woman's place is at home unless it's absolutely necessary.

We do fine on just my income so it hasn't been a problem.

Will you have the kind of medical insurance that can cover a problem pregnancy and months of hospitalization for a premature birth?
Or for your or your wife's cancer?

Hopefully you won't need it, but hospitals are in it to make money and you are their target demographic.

Right now is the time to try a new career path….. Give it 6-12 months and in this labor market, you can probably go back to your old corporate gig with no problem.

We've only been married about six months.

We lived separately until then and she worked previously.

My in laws use a Christian medical debt sharing program that they really like, they've made multiple claims and said it's way better/cheaper than insurance and it'd cost me about $1k more annually than what I pay now through my current employer.

Good luck with that brother bear. If you or your wife have any serious health issues you’re screwed

Either your wife needs to get a job with benefits, or you stay at your sales job. To me, right now, you cannot lose your family’s benefits. That is not acceptable.

Do you have experience with this type of thing?

The reviews I've read have been good as far as folks even having cancer and that type of thing.

I've always just had conventional health insurance through my employer though.

Not trying to be rude here at all, but your wife needs to get to work even if everything she makes goes into savings or investing. Once the kids come along, if y'all choose that route, you will need the spare money.
