She's lucky.
There are a few salvage places in the BR and NO areas you can call to see about selling it for scrap there. If it's still at the tow yard, they're charging at least $18/day to keep it there.
Chances are the value isn't worth much more than the two bill plus storage, but it doesn't hurt to call and ask.

Last time I sold scrap it was at $14/100lbs.
That car weighs, what, around 3500-4000lbs?
So maybe 500-600 bucks?

I thought that might be it. Just sign over title.

I thought you needed to sign off the car to the insurance company in order to get their payout?
As stated in the OP he doesn't have insurance to cover this accident so there will be no payout.
Looks like a very bad accident. She's lucky to get out with only minor injuries.

I think you get about 15-25 cents a pound at junk yard

what the guy above said ... if it's at a yard, you are being charged every day for it ...

those rims are worth something. I assume the back 2 are in good condition

If compressor is on other side and still in tact, it is worth about 800 bucks

A pull a part place would take it. The back end and most of the interior seem to be salvageable.

Sell it to a salvage yard. They'll "part out" the vehicle to others...ie...window regulators and switches, rear doors for auto body shops and the rear lift gate assy, etc..etc..

Any car has scrap value based on weight and other items regardless of condition. Here is what the tow company will net on your car.
Battery %5.00
Catalytic Convertor $100.00
Aluminum wheels $5.00 each.
If there are any usable parts even more.
remaining value of scrap metal $300.00-$400.00 depending on weight of car and commodity price for scrap.
The tow company is not doing you a favor by hauling it off check into scrap dealers that will come pick it up and pay you, $125.00-$150.00 is typical payment.

Just looked at pictures, there is a lot of parts salvage value there, I would Email pics to parts salvage yards in your area, and request offers for it picked up at the tow yard.

Got $8,000 for a 2006 Ford Escape that was pretty messed up. I will post a picture after I leave work but I'd say it's definitely worth scrapping.

Probably $500-$800 but you would have to drop the gas tank and take of the tires because scrap places will not accept it otherwise. You would also have to find a way to get it there.

OP,
Bring it back to your house. Make daughter part it out for a summer time responsilbilty lesson. Sell parts on eBay. At least she will learn to not run into 18 wheelers. She would have been doa in a car.

You could probably get at least a grand for parts I would guess.

This is actually a good idea if you're mechanically inclined. Take individual parts off and sell them on Ebay.

He gone!
For a little recruiting thread lingo there.
Signed it over for nothing. Didn't want to deal with it. Was cool with losing some money on it since I don't have to mess around with it anymore.
Then I ready the $8k thing and the "make her part it out herself thing" and
I'd take the latter over $$ though. Damn I missed an opportunity.
