I think that cold of 1983 was the Christmas Eve that my Pops and Grandmother had to deal with a nearly frozen calf. They had a few cows at the time and one gave birth in the heart of that cold snap. The calf nearly froze. They had to bring it into my Grandmother's house. Her kitchen had a wall heater and linoleum floors. They cordoned that calf off in the kitchen with old towels and blankets. They kept it in the house through the coldest weather only taking it out to nurse. I wasn't around then, but my sister was. They have a picture of her and that calf in the kitchen.

Not being a negative Nancy but I've fallen for the hype many times

Hey, I remember the hard freeze of 2021 was predicted 3 weeks in advance on here. People at work laughed when I told them what was coming until the local news made it a reality. This is why I enjoy these TD weather threads so much.

I know and cold snaps can be tricky, but sometimes the end result is just so obvious if you know what your looking at.

This is one of those cases.

Ill grant you, I could be wrong, but I share rds's conviction a cold time around Christmas is very likey.

The Ice Storm of 82 was pretty nasty down this way. Uncle was down from up north and took us out in his car sliding around on the ice in Montgomery. Had a blast as a toddler standing up in the seat next to him.

One Weather app forecast goes out thru the 20th. It shows a cool down next week but nothing too extreme. Lows in the thirties and highs in the fifties.

Latest GFS showing a wintery mix just north of us right around Christmas. Still far out, but the trend is that I think we finally are going to get a cold Christmas around here!
