You get struck by lightning often?

This reads like you got struck more than once.

Pretty bold statement considering it hasn’t even reached BR yet

Yea they said all day yesterday it wouldn’t reach BR until noon today

I can’t believe we cancelled school for nothing. Baton Rouge just has cloud coverage. How can they consistently get this shite so wrong for our area?
Wasn’t the worst of it for Baton Rouge eastward not even supposed to be until this afternoon?

I thought it was supposed to be in the morning time and it hasn’t rained at all which means kids totally could have gone in for midterms and be done by 1130.

That's why they're moving the radar

Taking their time with it too.

Why would they move it instead of just supplementing it? Why not just build a new one somewhere like Ramah or Grosse Tete? Then Lafayette and Baton Rouge and a huge part of the gulf coast of the state would get excellent coverage. Surprising we couldn’t find some cash for that in the Build Back Better bullshite that they came up with last year.

Mississippi is stacked when it comes to coverage. Louisiana is a joke.

Tornadoes Kill Mother And Child, Injure Dozens In Louisiana

quote:

A line of powerful storms moving across the South turned deadly in Louisiana after causing destruction in Texas and Oklahoma.

A woman and a young boy were killed when a tornado touched down in Louisiana's Caddo Parish south of Shreveport on Tuesday, according to the Sheriff's Office. Deputies went door to door after 20 to 30 homes were damaged in the community of Keithville, KTAL reports. Two people were taken to a hospital.

Didn’t they also expect the line to stall out closer to Baton Rouge? Looks like it happened earlier than planned. Hopefully that means it’ll push out faster when it does move through.

Ah. Yeah that’s never a good feeling. My dog loses their mind when there are nearby strikes or the ground vibrates in any way too. She already vomited twice today.

Worst lightning I’ve seen was during a late night drive between Madisonville and Baton Rouge. I swear that cell tower thing on 455/LA22 near Ponchatula was struck right as I drove past it. That scared the hell out of me.

I felt like everything around me was getting struck left and right by the time I passed the fire truck factory in Livingston. Absolutely insane. Drivers were getting startled and braking when the lighting was close by. And it was nearly constant too. At some point I could smell something burning, as if a tree was struck very close to the highway right before I passed.

Worst I’ve seen in my life or at any time since then. Not a pleasant experience when driving alone. Would absolutely suck to be suck outside in that. Oddly enough the storm itself wasn’t that crazy. The lightning was just spectacularly unique.

Mid day.

And canceling school with the possibility of tornadoes has been SOP since the Moore, OK tragedy. As inconvenient as it is, you do not want a situation where parents are rushing to school to get their kids out when a tornado is approaching.

I get that is SOP but I feel like BR never gets it right with it. And I lived Missouri for 11 years so I have dealt with this crappy weather before. I was a parent that rushed to a school at 2 pm because a tornado was coming. I get it. It’s just SUPER frustrating and maybe more
So this time since it is midterms and now their schedules are all jacked up.

I agree with you on that. And even during an outbreak, there are too many false alarms in this area.

Radar coverage is horrible and the storms are usually high precipitation and come from the west where the road network isn’t great (not easy to spot) so they are calling everything that looks like a possible rotation. 9 times out of 10 it’s either very minor or it’s nothing at all.
