James Spann is helping people connect with the owners of photographs they've found through his Facebook page and they found one that traveled from South Mississippi to Tuscaloosa County in Alabama, 122 miles.

Here are a couple of radar grabs I got of the two violent tornadoes in southern Mississippi Sunday. The first is the Bassfield EF-4 a few minutes after it passed Bassfield. The second has both the Bassfield EF-4 as it passed Soso, and the storm that produced an EF-3 that followed nearly the same path. I wish I had grabbed a shot of the correlation coefficient showing the surely massive TDS, but I was paying attention to a storm coming toward me in AL, so I forgot.

This picture has been identified. It was lofted by an EF-4 at Moss, Mississippi. Traveled 121 miles to Tuscaloosa County Alabama. One of those that lived in the home is in critical condition.

Mississippi has added another fatality due to Sunday's tornadoes... now up to 12 dead from the storms in Mississippi alone

Tornado in Walthall Co., Miss. upgraded from an EF2 to an EF3
of course... this storm may have already been upgraded to an EF4 by the damage report done by NWS Jackson in other counties that they cover

The 1st started in Jeff Davis Co. and tracked for ~68 miles. EF-4. Max width-at least 2 miles.
The 2nd started in Lawrence Co. and continued for ~82.5 miles. EF-3. Max width-1 mile.

In unrelated news, the long range forecast systems are showing an active MDR and Gulf for this coming Hurricane season. For reference, these models tend to have somewhat of a dry bias.

for comparison... the 2013 El Reno, Okla. tornado that killed several storm chasers (Tim Samaras most notably)
was rated an EF3 (probably underrated b/c it stayed mostly in rural lands with no real buildings to see its true devastating power)
max winds 302 mph (as measured by mobile doppler radar)
had a max width of 2.6 miles

so... am I reading it wrong or is the NWS trying to say the Walthall Co. EF3 and the long track EF4 are 2 different tornadoes and not just 1 tornado that tracked through 2 different coverage areas?

To put the "at least 2 mile width" into perspective, the widest tornado ever surveyed was the May 31, 2013 tornado near El Reno, OK at 2.6 miles wide.
