JUST IN: Walthall County, MS #tornado upgraded to EF-4 with max winds estimated ~170 mph.
@NWSNewOrleans
notes it's only the 4th EF-4 on record in their area, with the last being in Dec. 1983. #MSwx #LAwx

Here is a preliminary map of the Walthall County portion of the recently upgraded EF-4 tornado from Sunday. Note that the entire track was not EF-4 intensity, but rather a small area near the end of the track here before the tornado continued into Lawrence County. #mswx

The Easter EF4 tornado that began in Jefferson Davis Co. and tracked for ~68 miles before lifting in Clarke Co. was at least 2 miles wide. This will be the widest tornado in Mississippi history, surpassing the April 24, 2010 tornado that tracked through Yazoo City (1.75 miles).

Jesus. 2 miles wide. That is terrifying to even think about.

Timing wise, how far apart did those two tornadoes occur?
Posted on 4/16/20 at 10:12 pm to East Coast Band
They were happening simultaneously. The northern most Tornado was maybe 30 mins behind the first as it passed just north of Collins.
Posted on 4/16/20 at 10:16 pm to OsTiger78
yeah the northern tornado was basically on the heels of the southern tornado
