I was visiting relatives in Maumelle and was on the road south of Mayflower when that bitch hit. I saw it cross the interstate and it was one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever witnessed and I was a good ways away.

My sister in law just texted us that their apartment flooded in Birmingham. They have a newborn. Sucks

so here's my question to the true mets of the OT
do you think we've "maxed out" our ability to forecast tornadoes... esp when it comes to tornado warnings and trying to give lead time to those directly in the paths of potentially tornadic storms?
it seems like we've gotten to a point where we know at least a few days in advance when tornado potential is there... what days the storms will hit and even timing of tornado potential
and we've gotten to where the NWS is calling out individual cells for tornado warnings like 30-45 minutes in advance
what more could be done to better forecast tornado potential?

I’m not a met but the collection of more and more information to add to higher tech models would lead me to believe there is room for improvement... not that anything today is bad. It’s already incredible what can be done today. This was known to be coming a week out.

With how dynamic everything is there are obviously limits...

A MS power company employee here. Just got home. Thank you all who track and teach in these threads. I left my family and went 70 miles NE of them this morning to prepare for work. Follow these type of threads helps me keep them alert. I've done Harvey, Michael, and a few others, but spring storm season is the worse due to the randomness of where it hits.
Eh, not to get sappy, but thanks weather guys for keeping the info coming.

The wind is so strong in this thing the system is trying to rotate around on itself near Memphis
ETA: by “this thing” I mean the jet Stream that’s driving the front
Or, at least that’s what I think I mean

Starting to really pick up around Atlanta.

Glenn Burns was tearing up for the people in the path. Apparently it's a really dangerous tornado

Also want to say thanks for everyone here posting updates. Moved from NE MS to Virginia a few years back and these threads are always a great place to see region wide updates without having to go all over the internet.
We’re preparing for some of this to hit here later this morning.
