I did 150 mph down I-59 in high school, WS6 Trans Am. What I learned, don't get your kids a 300+ hp car. Luckily I never wrecked being young and dumb, but I very well could have. (Yes, I know, Trans Am trashy, but they were cool in 2003 damnit).

I understand everyone pushes their car to see what it’s got. I’m just skeptical that so many cars can top 140mph. One guy said he did 150 in an F150. Most cars have governors and even without a governor I didn’t think they all reached these speeds.

Drove at a little over 120 for quite some distance in my 1992 Mazda MX-3, back in 1996.
This was on highway 385 going between Big Bend National Park and Marathon out in west Texas. Desert highway on a weekday, not another car around.
By 10 o'clock that night, the tires were making a horrible noise, and the next morning I needed to buy new ones in Austin....

131 mph in my 2009 Audi A6 on I-90 in MT between Livingston and Big Timber. That car was a beast. Was smooth as glass at that speed and the wide open Montana highway made it easy to carry that speed for a few minutes.

2002 Trans Am WS6 Collectors Edition. Vortec Supercharger and a lot of other work done. Somewhere north of 160 in the middle of the night on I30.
Worse ticket I got was 114 in a 45mph zone on highway 7 south of Hot Springs. Young guys are generally dumb but when they spend every cent they have building a awesome car the level of idiot is insane.

171 in a 2009 Vette on I20 in between Monroe and Rayville. Then somewhere close to 170-175 in my 700 hp 93 Cobra Mustang coming home from New Orleans. That was very stupid. Lol. That car was built for 120 maybe.
