My nails would have to look pretty damn disgusting before I worried about it.

Lamisil is a great drug for nail fungus (95% of discolored cloudy nails). Takes a few weeks for healthy nail to grow in and replace the affected nail though. Takes up to 6 months for big toe sometimes.

Use something called fungi-nail, its a nail polish / solution that you can get over the counter...works like a charm.

generic version of this may work. Any experiences?

My experience working in a pharmaceutical plant and dealing with the FDA tells me a greneric drug is the same damn thing as a non generic, except the actual name.

Fo sho. I wonder if the pharma companies push a subliminal messaging campaign to keep people thinking generics are inferior.

Just put a piece of duct tape over it and leave it for a week. It'll take it right off. You have to take away the oxygen to the fungus

I used it last year for three months. Had no issues with liver enzymes. Had the blood drawn. Well during the time I used it i missed a few weeks sporadically. Ended the dosage in late may / june. It's february and it's not any better. Can remember if it's gotten worse. Went to a different derm today and she seem like a lunatic. Said there is no cure for it an there is nothing I can do but live with it. I talked her into giving me another prescription. She made me sign a waiver.

I wouldn't be pushing the issue but my dad had the same thing and it cleared him up. Mine is somewhat minor and only in one nail but it drives me crazy. Just got the new prescription called in today. Will give it another go. She said to throw away all old tennis shoes. Dress shoes / boots were fine but get rid of all tennis shoes.

If it is in the pill form, then I would be careful about your alcohol consumption as it can be tough on your liver. It can also make your skin sensitive to sunlight, so make sure you wear sunscreen when you need to be outdoors for more than a few minutes.

Generic companies are allowed leeway, I have not seen a head to head efficacy trials done regularly against branded drugs.

have never tried lamisil. but i did try the laser treatment. spent nearly $1k for something that resembled a kind of pow torture. They basically heat your nail up with a laser until you scream for them to stop. then they do it again and again to ALL nails.

ETA: and in the end, nothing changed.

They are literally the same chemical, so it would be a waste of money and unethical to perform an efficacy trial.

So if they are the same compound how is it unethical? It unethical when you knowingly withhold the standard of care treatment/one with proven efficacy. Why when I get generic medication sometimes they are 3 times bigger than the branded? What's that extra stuff saw dust? Flour?
