I'm assuming you went to some sort of cosmetic derm right?

ETA: I got the derms here mixed up and ended up going to a cosmetic derm. Walk in and the place looked like an Rodan and Fields warehouse. Woman doctor with all female staff. They had sweatshirts for sale in the waiting area too. Came in and looked at my nail. Said there is no cure for it. Still tried to give me a topical. I said I didn't want a topical. Asked if it worked. She said no. I asked if lamisil worked. She said no. Then she suggested laser treatment. I asked if it worked. She said no. She said it is incurable and I would have to live with it the rest of my life. Then she took off down the hall yelling "Nail Discoloration!!!" "Nail Discoloration!!!". I told the PA I wanted the medication then waited in the lobby and she brought me a waiver to sign then gave me some literature on feet. The literature literally just described what caused discoloration in nails. The whole thing was fricking bizarre.

yeah, a place on Bluebonnet. it was kind of like someone lighting a match, letting it get really hot, then touching it to your toenail.

Putting human subjects through unnecessary tests is quite unethical. Now, if there were complaints about a specific generic drug, then most likely an FDA audit of the manufacturing facility would identify if the generic chemical (or biosimilar if speaking about biologics) were out of spec.

My big toes have been looking funky the last few years. I talked to my dr about it about a year ago and he wanted to put me on the lamisil pill, but when he told me that they'd have to check my liver enzymes it kinda freaked me out. Then I went home and googled the side effects and I decided that I didn't want to go that route.

A pharmacist recommended spraying the toe nails twice a day with lamisil spray that you buy OTC for athlete's feet. I tried that for about 6 months. It looked like it was working at first, but in the end it didn't fix the problem. I had a checkup with my dr 2 weeks ago and he talked me into trying the lamisil pill. He said that I should be ok taking the pill as long as I'm only taking it for 2 months. Two weeks in and I really haven't experienced any side effects just yet. I guess we'll see what happens.

Have you used it?

Yes, cleared up a nasty thumbnail in about 2 months. I was so embarrased by it I developed the habit of hiding the thumb behind index finger. It took many months to break that habit after the finger looked normal again.

Son in law used it. Worked great for him. If I remember correctly, they had to watch his liver function while on it.

I used it a few years ago. I had foot rot for 10 years since college. Tried all the OTC stuff. I took it for three months and did the monthly blood work. All my toenails grew back in and the dry flakey skin cleared up. Wish I had done it years ago.
