You obviously have not watched CBS, CNN, MSNBC at any point in the last 9.5 years. They literally post false information every day and face no consequences.

I mean Wichita is like a regular good ole midwestern City. Not really ever in the news for bad things….

Every aviation incident recently involves a female in either an atc role or crew role

Sen Jerry Moran from Kansas on news now talking about the flight. He lobbied for American to add the route and it’s only been active for about a year. Talking about how he’s flown it several times and likely knows several people on it. He’s controlling himself good but you can tell he’s shaken a good bit.

Was flying over DC when this happened on my way to Hartford. It was very turbulent on the East coast tonight

I’m assuming everyone is gone? I haven’t read this whole thread. This seems awful.

There’s not much known yet. CNN is reporting fatalities and that “no survivors have been recovered yet”

Part of training would be flying in congested airspace.
At night… you would think that would be toward the end of the training…
Seems like human error but can something be done to not be in that situation?

Danica Patrick is a pretty good driver but I'm still not letting one behind the wheel of a car

The height and water temp leads me to believe that if they haven’t pulled anyone alive yet then they’re not going to. Prayers for the families and the atc person

Tuscaloosa-I assume the CA showing on the ATC screen is "collision alert". Wouldn't the ATC get a warning over his headset, along with the aircraft themselves?
It appears the chopper pulled up at the last minute for some reason. Obviously the altitude readout is rounded as it only reads in 100s. I assume he could have only come up a few feet for it to switch from 0002 to 0003?

The current water temp would cause a person to freeze to death in 15-30 minutes per the news.

I put my hand into an icy bucket of water last week and my hand almost instantly went numb. There would be no way I could survive more than a few minutes in an cold, and possibly icy river, and wearing clothes.

Training flight may be something as routine as a night currency sortie. They have to maintain proficiency in specific aviation events every so often. It doesn't necessarily mean anyone was being instructed, learning new skill, doing anything out of routine or was non current. Most training sorties are quite routine. Complacency is often the biggest risk.
