Playboy used to do that ranking every year when I was at LSU
The famous ranking where the author said in the article that he witnessed a sorority (DG I think) outdrink a fraternity downing shots for time at Murphy's. This was the oft quoted article where he opined that LSU should be excluded from the rankings as they were in the Professional category and should be exempt from college eligibility. (This was at a time when overtyly paying collegiate athletes was frowned upon. This won't make sense to people in a few years when that concept is wiped from memory.)

This makes sense.
The LSU students are too busy studying to make such a frivolous list.

Tulane
Trust fund brats from NYC/NJ
The spoiled idiot kids who couldn’t get into their first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th choice of schools, so their rich parents send them down to Tulane so they can brag to their friends about how much they spend in tuition.

there was a sorority girl we used to hang out with, KD, iirc, very pretty, very much a Tom boy, athletic, killer body, that would routinely win beer drinking contests against guys, she was a lot of fun to hang out with

LSU dominated this list in the 90s when I was there.

LSU got kicked off the list because the only party they have now is the democrat party

Pretty sure we've been Top 10 (at least at something) since Playboy named us the #1 Party School in 1975. Or maybe it was '77. I've still got that issue stashed away somewhere.
Those were the days.

Here's the actual source of these current rankings with an explanation for each ...

As someone who lived right next to frat/sorority row at Tulane... I can say those rich yankee kids do rage, on top of just being in New Orleans where the whole town rages. Tulane is an easy "pay your fees, make your "B"s school... So partying hard and still making decent grades is easy.

Chico State in Chico, CA, was the #1 party school in the late 60s according to Playboy magazine.

Obviously a sad situation, but college kids are going to drink one way or the other.
The crackdown was very real for a little bit. I almost immediately got a misdemeanor underaged drinking charge at Chelsea's right after that incident. It was free game a few weeks earlier.
