They're very selective. They don't want our money.

but why is Top Golf so difficult to get in a city? I'd think NOLA, BR or Laffy would be a simple sell. Why are they so "exclusive"?
Because they cost millions to build. They are a huge investment so they are going to take their time and do their homework.

Are they franchised? Or corporately owned? I'd think the latter

Gotta be a 12-15 million dollar investment. Depending on location. Minimum

They could find a spot in midcitt around Carrollton between Bienville/Toulouse . Bunch of parking lots and old warehouses in the area. And it's an up and coming area
I don't think you realize how big of a site they need. It's either do it by the convention center or on the northshore.
Elmwood area would be a last resort.

Yeah if you Google you usually see upwards of 10 million out there.

Yeah. Those things are huge.

About double the cost of a Dave & busters with about 1/10(total guess) of the market

Yeah the grassy area alone is massive. The 3 story facility is also massive with all the golf bays on top of the bar areas and other areas (pool tables, game room, etc). And the parking lot is also massive as well. The one by my house is constantly packed. However.....it's also next to a casino resort in a city that has a large amount of tourists that visit(many of which are very much into golf already).
While NOLA has the tourists for it to do well.....it really needs to be located where tourists will easily be able to access it. To far away from the city and you lose the tourists wanting to go there.
No way BR has the population to keep a Top Golf open though.

How much is that place David Toms designed/owns in Shreveport? Gotta be more expensive than Top Golf right?
DT''s 265 is a state of the art golf academy that is used to teach golfers on how to get better...Top Golf is just a place to go out for an evening with your friends. LINK

They put them near freeways generally
Also have to consider the zoning because of the lights

There has been confusion by a lot of folks here that think top golf actually markets and attracts golfers ... I would suggest that golfers are not its target market...

Yeah but if you're not a golfer, wouldn't it be a 1 time, check it out kinda thing? Once you realize you actually have to be able to hit a golf shot, non-golfers would be like F that. Kinda like if u opened up a batting cage than only threw 90mph. Don't know much about TG. Just asking

Nah it's still fun even if you are not a golfer. You are drinking while hitting golf balls. There are different games you can play as well.
However.....it can be expensive. The bays cost around $40-50/an hour(depends on time of day you go). Granted several people could split the cost of one bay.....however even with 4-5 people an hour goes by really fast. Add to that the cost of food and drinks and it can add up. Also.....if you go on a weekend night....you can easily wait 2-3 hours for a bay. So you are spending money on drinks, etc while you are waiting.
It is fun, but for most people it would be the type of thing they do a couple times a year. That's why you would need a location that already has enough tourists and/or population to keep the place busy.
