Murphy's....wow that place probably shaved off about 15 years of my life.

i remember one day eating the gatti's buffet, catching "Rocky IV" at the theater in the same parking lot as murphys..getting drunk at murphys and taking a sorority girl back to kirby smith.

that had to be the most perfect day of my college life.

I got hired there simply because they somehow ended up with one of the tapes I made. It was playing during cleanup. Fraioli asked Brown who made it. They tracked me down. I was just glad to get that damned tape back.

My memories of murphy's are mostly around getting goldschlager poured down my teenage throat when the fight song was played....every 15 minutes.

I'm lucky to be in 1 piece these days.

For me it was...

Bayou
Murphys (until I received a 'lifetime' ban)
Chimes
Docs
Sports
Bengal (until that poor girl got stabbed)

Rarely went to the others.

No part of a perfect day would involve Kirby Smith. I went there a handful of times and it was a crappy arse dump. I lived in Power and it was a glorious-arse dump. It was definitely not legal how much fun we had there.

Kirby Smith

I lived in Kirby for a year and a half. Anyone remember the bonfire party they would hold every year? We would get old wooden pallets, stack em up about 20 feet, set them on fire and drink jungle juice and Natty Light while it burned down. (We would also steal rocking chairs and political signs off of people's front lawns to add to the fire). Every year, it was a fight over how high we could stack the pallets and how much booze we could supply.

A friend's daughter lives in Kirby now. I told her about the bonfires and the Thursday evening keg parties and she couldn't get over it.

Technically it was Tiger stadium north.

Did you enjoy the row of toilets with no dividers?

that was terrible. i dreaded having to go take a shower cause there was no heater in the restroom and it was so far away from my room and it was freezing. i would go days without bathing.

I lived in Power too. I learned quickly to open my door and wait a few seconds before walking out in the hall.

Never knew if anyone was working on their golf game.

I assume you were a DJ at Murphy's/Fred's. Did you know Colin Mangham, Mike Morton, Michael Murphy, Bennett Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Paul Mcgoey, Keller Kuhner, Cort St Paul, Shearn Lemoine, Ed Wolf, Ettienne Defelice, Mignon Crawford?

Nah it's still there

Not in the same spot. The old one was a lot bigger. And had 3-4 Mastiffs walking around.

Chris's Bar on North Street across from Olinde's furniture. It was in the hood, but had cheap fishbowls of cerveza, some talent, and your low life personnel.
It was our first stop before heading to Murphy's etc.

We played our first gig at Chris' Bar on North St with the Gutter Sharks...

It was a favorite place for the BR D.A's office... And it was in the middle of the hood...

We had full-on soccer games in the hall. One night the ball ricocheted off of two doors and seconds later some dude came out, kicked the water fountain so hard it fell over...he just muscles it off the wall and the water line was just shooting straight at some other rooms door...things go to shite. Ten minutes later we're all in the hall, we're being blamed for it...my roommate says who did it, I point to the guy, my roommate walks over and punches the guy standing next to him hard as he can in face...just a fricking riot. We ended up all being friends...Power...
