re: Too early to weed and feed?

Going to put mine down this weekend.

We need one more big freeze to save the day but it’s not looking good. We’re going to have an extended run of 70s and 80s. That first mow of the season signals a return back to oppressive weather.

Maybe March will cool back off. It’s been a cold winter. The pattern finally changed and the West is finally getting some cold while the south heats up.

Embrace the yard work and it makes it much better.

We did a ton of yard work this weekend- took all the weeds out of flower beds, trimmed back all the shrubbery/ rose bushes, cut the grass really short to get rid of the dead stuff ( I never cut my grass short)...it looks awesome.

Welp, I’m using a handheld. Not sure if it makes a difference. If my yard was over an acre, I’d get it. They aren’t hard to control the rate of dispersion.

150 degree rule.

Day time highs + night time lows routinely hit 150 degrees...is when your grass is growing.

You're seeing cool season weeds currently, not warm season weeds.

Grass is the south doesn't go 'dormant'..think of it like this...when you wake up in the morning, are you hungry?

frick Virginia Buttonweed. That shite is the devil

Pretty sure you can only treat it once it comes out with a post emergent. Then you have to hit it again before the white flowers come out. Once the white flowers come out, it has put out seeds and then you're fricked for the next year (or years)

I've been fighting that shite for a long time

Just sprayed some Weed Free Zone. In about 3 days or so I should see dead weeds. When the rain slacks off I am going to hit it with some premergent crab grass stuff. Maybe start feeding mid March ish

What pre-emergent crabgrass stuff are you talking about? I need to get my hands on it if it works.

Might want to wait about another fortnight or so.
