I caught a Traveling Wilburys documentary on TV a couple of years ago. They recorded their first song at Dave Stewart's (Eurythmics) house. He lived on a cul-de-sac in the Hollywood Hills.

They showed Petty driving a red corvette up to the house and looking for a place to park. Then a 1980's conversion van pulls up with Bob Dylan behind the wheel. Somehow Petty driving a vette & Dylan driving a van made perfect sense.

Seems like a matter of time before they pull the plug.
Like the story about Gary Coleman, where his wife told doctors to pull the plug, buy there was subsequent backlash that they did that too soon before all avenues of resusitation were explored.

Don’t think TP was a big drug user.

Regardless, doctors need to exhaust all reasonable attempts to save his life.

he was a heroin addict in the 90's. But he had kicked that, and was now just a cigarette addict.

TP and the Heartbreakers in my opinion are one of, if not the best American rock band of all-time. Not a good day.

Denis Leary once made the observation that we live in a country where somebody could pump six bullets into John Lennon and not one of them hit fricking Yoko Ono.

I heard that on the radio as well, his family said they didn't expect him to make through the night.

You take it on faith
You take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part

I wasn't quite old enough to really appreciate what those guys did together before Roy passed away. He's slowly getting the band back together.

I guess it's official now. The plug was pulled earlier today, but he hung on for a few more hours. RIP

Wasn't a big fan of Tom Petty growing up but as I got older I did appreciate his different style and his unique sound. RIP TP

Sad that I never got to see him live despite having tickets for local shows on THREE separate occasions - the last being as recent as this last July. RIP - an American icon.

Also appreciate him not being outspoken politically like so many douches these days.
