I haven't been to the place in years. Waiting for the boot store to open, we decided to go in.

It was eerie. The entire mall was deserted. Maybe saw 15 people in two hours. Cleaner than I ever remember it being.

I strongly suggest anyone who has ever been, go take a stroll through there one day.

There are very few things still open.

It's worth going in just for the experience.

Did you see the gehtto monster?

There is a folklore or story about the gehtto monster that hangs at Cortana Mall.
If you hang around until around 3:30 pm or later he comes out armed and dangerous ready to rob anyone in his sight.
You can always spot him with his pants almost falling off and his underwear almost hanging to the ground. He may also have a few gold teeth caps and might look like he is high on mojo. He could have a flat bill cap and long white t - shirt. The only thing people say about this creature is he is rare seen at Cortana Mall since no one goes there anymore. Remember he is a good boy according to his many baby mamas and grandmother.

He might have made his way to the Mall of Louisiana where people are who are stupid enough to shop there at night since his major transportation is the bus system or a stolen vehicle.

Walked the whole place. Went into Dillarda to see what they had. Got distracted by the large amount of discounted Daniel Cremieux clothing on the cheap

That was the best Piccadilly that I remember. Two cafeteria lines and a massive dining room.

The future of the Cortana Mall property is in logistics, distribution, and flex space similar to Woodale or Industriaplex. It is not in retail.

I went to Acadiana Mall over the weekend for the first time in probably 10 years.

I was surprised to see that it is still apparently a fairly popular place for people to shop in Lafayette, especially for the younger crowd.

I was expecting to see a bunch of unused rental space and low-life losers.

Bingo.

When we were driving around the exterior looking for the right entrance, my wife even noticed every major store has a dock.

You could very easily run a warehouse system out of there.

The parking lot could easily be redeveloped into smaller flex spaces too.

The only retail that may survive flanks Florida or Airline. Everything in the mall itself needs a change in format.
