NOLA proper, or even Kenya, Metry, or the best bank...hell no. North shore, maybe. I've done both and don't miss either.

As someone who has made this move (Houston to the North shore) in the past few years. Absolutely yes, do it. Closer to family, great area to raise a family, short commute, lower cost of living and within arms reach of NOLA to enjoy it when you so desire. Do it and don't look back.

As someone who has lived in both, no. Previously all I wanted to do was move back to NOLA and live. After living in Houston however, there is no place I'd rather spend my working years(personal opinion). To me, the Houston area just has so much more to offer.

This sounds more like "ima live in mandeville but ima work in NOLA". Alright bro best I can tell you is if you can handle that 45 min commute you should be gold. For almost 20 years my mom would commute from Mandy land to New Orleans 2 or 3 times a week.

New Orleans is so ghetto. No don't see how anyone could live there. That's before considering crime, potholes, and schools.

You can't beat living close to family and friends but I'd make sure new job is really stable with the way our economy is on shaky ground.

You should come check out Bay St Louis before you move to Mandeville.

I wouldn't, but it took me a long time to get to this point. Still love going back to New Orleans to visit.

In that situation now (in the sense that I'm in Houston and will one day have the opportunity to move back). I can only imagine doing it if I had a certain income. At least to live in actual NOLA. I'm in The Woodlands now, and it's hard to beat. But if I can afford a 700k house, there's some places in NOLA and the Northshore I'd love to live and being closer to family would be a bonus. I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat.

I'd be real nervous buying a house in NOLA right now. With O&G on shaky ground and housing prices going crazy in NOLA the past few years, I think they're headed for a sharp downturn. Crazy the prices these houses in Mid-City, Fountainbleu, and even Central City are going for in New Orleans right now.

Not to mention closer to the beaches, easy access to watersports, good fishing and decent hunting.

Moved back to the NOLA area from Houston after 10 years. Terrible mistake. Don't do it.Cost of living is exponentially more in Louisiana versus Texas, school suck, State budget is in the crapper, etc.

It is amazing how much further your money gets you in Houston Vs NOLA.
