At least topside you would have a chance. Hung up on the bottom, you aren't being found.
I can't believe there isn't some kind of failsafe to get the thing opened from the inside if you HAVE to. Wrenches to unbolt the sight glass at least, or something.

This may have been talked about, but is it absolutely necessary that they had to bolt the thing shut from the outside? Surely there could have been another way.
It's probably a bigger chance for someone to freak out and open a hatch.

I cannot remember all the different times that have been listed as far as when they departed when they started diving etc. But memory is telling me that they lost communications just an hour or so into submersion. In that case I doubt very seriously they got stuck on the titanic. It would be an extreme case of bad luck if they lost power and continue to sink and somehow lodged themselves on the wreckage.

For 250k you better be able to track me to within a millimeter.

with 6000 psi on the outside, a hatch that opened out would get you out at the surface, but be impossible to open underwater

If they lost power basically anywhere in the water column other than top or bottom than they are nowhere near where they started by now and will be all but impossible to find. Ocean currents are very strong.

Yeah, most likely (and best case scenario) they all died instantly during the descent.
I highly doubt they’re floating around on the surface somewhere, you’d think that thing would have a tracker or even their phones/satellite phone would work.
Very scary to think if they just lost power after an hour, and they just slowly sunk all the way to the bottom and they’re still alive right now. I know the ceo in that interview said even if they lost their thrusters/lights/etc they would be fine, but shite happens. I’d think the ceo and his employee are much more at peace with sharing their final resting place alongside the Titanic and its passengers. Can’t imagine the billionaires would be as accepting.

On this, I found it kinda weird the dude bolting it looked to have like a Dewalt and not some advanced torque wrench for something about to be exposed to that psi. Was like me driving a bolt into a stud.

Does the mothership not have some sort of omni-sonar for tracking what is below it and they could have tracked the depth of the sub on the way down, then seen it disappear into a bunch of pieces if imploded?

Are there any metal areas exposed inside? Couldn’t they ping (bang metal) on inside to alert location?

There's no need, if it was topside there'd be location pings. There's no way it's not outfitted with at least that. It ain't on the surface, no way.

interesting article
dream team
"“I don’t know if they have a rover on this trip that can go that deep but rovers have been stuck on these type of shipwrecks before."
didn't think of that

Chances are they’ve been dead for awhile.

I guess that's why I'm not a sub engineer.

This situation is sad. Hope and pray they somehow survive.
