Stop eating bananas, something about banana flavored people attracts them to individuals.
Bug zappers.
Lots of frogs.
No scented lotions, etc.
wind machines.
All out chemical warfare

We have a SERIOUS fricking blind mosquito and spider problem, I'm talking we stay indoors most of the time. The talstar and bifren y'all linked is the 7.9%. I found the 25% bifren on amazon and it does help some when I use like 10x the recommended dose and spray the shite out of everything outside. But summertime where we live and the way our house is kinda by itself, it's a drop in the bucket. Very frustrating.

If you are going the DIY route, I can offer some advice.
Spray early morning or sunset, when they are most active in the summertime.
Your first two treatments should be 7 days apart to break the lifecycle. After that, treatments every 14 days will keep them down.

Do you do pest control? I have some questions if so.

I did my own house for three years (with Talstar) before I wised up and hired a pro for much better results.

Talstar kills everything.
All the Mosqutio spraying companies are a scam, do it yourself and save the money. All they are spraying at your house is talstar

The 25% bifren has been doing ok, but our is so severe I didn't know if there were other options.

First, make sure you don't have any standing water around.
Then you can look into the following options:
- Off candles: I use one of these and it seems to work. We have mosquito control in my parish so they actually don't get that bad. They are at their worse right before they spray for them for the first time of the year, which is usually around late April.
- A bug wacker. My neighbor has one and when he turns it on, the bugs (including mosquitos flock to it. He can leave it on for an hour and it gets filled with dead bugs and he has to clean out the tray that they fall into. But it works.
- There is some mosquito spray control you can get at home depot (im sure lowes, walmart, etc has it as well). It's relatively expensive, but it can't hurt.

Get some concentrate mosquito poison at Walmart or Lowes. Mix in sprayer. Spray liberally around everything that touches the ground. Outdoor life will be great after a few days. Been doing this for years. Neighbor never listens to me. He gets eaten up all summer long while I have no mosquito problems.

Yeah that’s the expensive stuff that I call a mosquito control system.
If you do it yourself or pay some laborers to do it it’s half the price or more in savings. Mine was done in a day and the results were noticeable the first night and after a day the results were amazing. Give it a week and you won’t need OFF or anything.
These guys should be cleaning up in the South but are pushing for a profit margin north of 60%. If they lowered their prices they’d be making a bunch more. Maybe their prices are set above their head I don’t know.
If anyone wants to do one reply and I’ll post my email. Will be buying chemicals in a week and I’ll get a discount for buying more (which we can split)

You need to use Talstar XTRA. It has bifenthrin and cypermethrin. They're both pyrethroids, but you'll get better immediate control from the cypermethrin and the bifenthrin will help on the back end with residual.
You're problem is you're using a product that doesn't have the best kill rate, but has a good residual... But, there's not much point in having a residual, if your kill rate isn't that great.
If you start earlier in the year with the bifenthrin, you might have a better shot at controlling them by just hammering them with residuals and trying to keep a decent population from forming.

It's a little pricey and would have loved to try the DIY option but I'm only home half the time.

I was surprised how well one of these can work. I left it plugged in 24/7 and I think i killed every insect within miles good and bad insect but oh well no mosquitoes is worth it.

We have a camp on Toledo Bend, and we had a mosquito control system installed on it, and all around the dock where we keep the boats. It's on a timer and sprays every night. We still get swarmed by mosquitos. I don't think you can kill the little bastards.

Obviuosly you don't know how it works.
Jody ain't there to do DIY maintenance.

If you live in a swamp whatever you do on our property will probably have little success.
Good tip. I’ll stick to spraying my own place.

Does the city you live in offer any kind of mosquito spray? If so I would start there.

I tried just about everything short of a flamethrower—then I installed a MistAway misting system.
Works better than anything else I’ve tried, but they aren’t inexpensive ($2-3k depending on the size of the property/area you want to treat). The chemical will run you about $250/mo. During the 5 heavy skeeter months.

It’s worse than ever. They’re even bad inside. My Dad owned a pest control co & the best thing for them inside is purge. You can now buy it at Do It Yourself Pest Control.
Outside... install the mist system if you can. Other than that just use common sense.
