We just moved into a new house and the mosquitos are so bad that we can't go in our back yard for more than a few minutes. I have tried citronella candles and they do not seem to help. TIA.

I dunno, this time of year it's too damn hot to be outside regardless of the mosquitoes.

1)Get your yard sprayed

2)Buy a Mosquito Magnet

3)Put potted/hanging plants outside that naturally repel mosquitos

4)eventually accept none of it is working because we live in a swamp

There is a spray you hook to your hose that I found at a nursery by my house that works on all insects.

I went the DIY route a few years, not nearly as effective as when I added mosquito control to my exterminator contract.

My wife is allergic to them, she swells up like a bee sting and they are attracted to her, they'll bite her through her clothes.

Our pest company has done a great job spraying and it's worth every penny.

Up to 90% of mosquitos are moving around and not on your property. If you live in a swamp whatever you do on our property will probably have little success.

Talstar professional from Amazon and a 4 gal backpack sprayer from Harbor Freight.

This sprayer has an assortment of tips. 1 is a fan nozzle that makes a really fine mist. Spray your yard, flower beds, all trees and shrubs once every 3 weeks or so. We used to get eaten alive in our back yard but since I've started doing this, we rarely even see a mosquito until about the 2-3 week mark.

I live on the river and they are bad as well. I bought a propane yard fogger and it works well for a few hours. If you want something that works all the time ( not when you are just outside) get a mosquito magnet

Talstar is good shite. If you can find the granular Talstar XTRA, it's better than Talstar P. It has two modes of action for more knockdown, and seems to have a better residual control.

I just spread it in my yard and on the patio and let a rain activate it. I'm sure you could dissolve it in a backpack sprayer though. Just read the label.

Had the SAME PROBLEM when I first moved in. If you have the money the best thing to do is get a mosquito control system put in. I got one 2 years ago at my house and just added one to my camp on the pearl and at our family Lake house. Has worked wonders.

It’s basically a copper pipes running around your yard (similar to a sprinkler system) that will spray for bugs on a timer. 55 gallon drum will last you two years with a daily spraying schedule. Painted green and put next to your A/C unit so you don’t even notice it. How most people that like to be outside in LA. don’t have these now blows me away. My house is now the neighborhood bbq spot because the mosquitoes are so bad in the rest of the neighborhood.

Can cost a $5k plus to install and a couple hundred bucks every year for the chemicals (which are less toxic than a can of OFF. It’s an easy install so I just found the manufacturer and bought from them and had a couple guys install for a total price of $2,500. Totally worth it.
Only issue is you need a license to get chemicals so I studied for a day and got one. Without license you have to pay the local distributor to do it which like I said is around $5k plus.

Can set ya up with the install if ya like. I’m about to order my chemicals so I could double up for ya. Guys who install it are landscape laborers that are always looking to make extra cash.

Mistaway!!

I just had a unit installed last month. I work overseas and they installed it the day after I left. Wife is thoroughly impressed.

It's a little pricey and would have loved to try the DIY option but I'm only home half the time.
