re: Second best stadium in the world after Tiger Stadium.
Posted by fearneaux1 on 11/9/24 at 3:04 am to FlyFishinTiger
Agreed stadium is awesome, was there last year for opening night of the season.
But the matadors are all pussies compared to the PBR Bullfighters and riders. No comparison.
I have videos of the bullfights on my phone, 5 yr old grandson was watching and his only question was...why are they wearing girl shoes?

re: Help: I need a grandfather name
Posted by fearneaux1 on 2/9/24 at 9:00 am to piratedude
I wanted to be called Pop also. As my grandson started to make sounds I was constantly trying to get him to say PPPop.
When he was ready, he tried so hard to say Pop, but his P's came out as B's. So instead of Pop...it was Bob. And it was so precious I have been renamed Bob.
All my family calls me Bob now. I love it.

re: World's Most Expensive Coffee - WYDI?

I've had it while living in China and certainly not the worst coffee I've ever had. Now working in Africa and I can tell you that tastes like what you think the Civet coffee would taste like.
Luckily i work with good folks from civilized coffee producing countries and there is always a good variety.

Interesting. Today the high was 105, unusually low for this time of the year. In past years it's been 120-130 and sometimes 145+

I am currently in the Sahara Desert and I can tell you this much.
1. In 2020 we had significant sand storm traveling across the Sahara traveling west, eventually forming Hurricane Laura.
2. Two days ago we had a significant sand storm pass through my field moving west.
3. Temperatures in my field are significantly less than previous years.
Not sure any of this has an effect. I live half of my life in the area where Laura was conceived and the other half of my life in the area where she made landfall as Cat4.
Scary

Wharf Repair
Posted by fearneaux1 on 3/22/22 at 4:42 am
In the process of purchasing a camp on a lake. Roughly 120 ft wharf with covered deck and boat lift. Deck and lift appear new and in great shape. Need to replace about half of 4x4 pilings on wharf. Whats the easiest DIY method.
I recall as a teenager working for a farmer who had a house on the lake, sinking posts using a pressure washer and jetting it down. That was 40+ years ago. Can't remember how that worked out.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

re: Is it OK to fly a flag used for a funeral?
Posted by fearneaux1 on 7/25/21 at 7:52 pm to East Coast Band
A couple years ago I put up a 30' flagpole, complete with low voltage lighting so I could leave it out all night. My neighbor would tell me how much he enjoys seeing my flag wave. I change the flag every year. A couple months ago he asked me if I would mind flying the flag that was on his uncle's casket. I told him that it would be my honor and I know how much he would enjoy it. I knew his uncle and I think he would be proud also.

Not even close. I'm in a North African country for the past 3 months and borders are still closed.
Will be end of August before I can get home.

You're welcome. Probably the only drawback is the drum on the patio, but it has a cover and it's tucked away in the corner and you never really notice it.
Good Luck!

None at all. We have dogs that stay inside at night and at least one outside all day. We only have to pick up the food and water bowl in the evening and after is sprays in the morning,
We also have birds and a Vitex tree that attracts many butterflys when in bloom, no problems at all the still come in to get the nectar.
I can't recall the chemical they use, but I have chairs and furniture under the pation and absolutely no residue.

I have the Mist Away System and we love it. Live in southern part of the state, below I-10 and they get pretty bad here.
Unit comes on twice a day about 15 seconds each. Have a fenced area behind the house for the dogs 80 x 20, but more property beyond the fence. If you walk out the fenced area you get attacked, go back inside and it's like an invisible screen. Worth every penny.
Runs about $75 a month for chemical. They talked me out of getting the top of the line model and went with the drum type. Got the complete support package, anything breaks they fix it, they come out and refill it.
There is the DIY option that reduces the price significantly.
Can't recommend it enough.

re: Would you travel internationally if your boss asked you to this week?
Posted by fearneaux1 on 3/7/20 at 6:08 pm to 3morereps
Travel international every month, doesn't bother me a bit. Worked in China during the swine flu and it was no big deal other than had to have temperature taken before debarcation.
Work in Africa now with layover in Germany and Spain, coworkers from Italy and China have been forbidden to travel to our locations.
Leave next week, not worried in the least.

I've been travelling international every month for the past 15 years and can honestly say I have never had an issue with any type of medicine i had on me.
I've been all over from Far East, Near East, Middle East, Africa and all over Europe.
Where are you going?

John Bel actually did a good job in the debate, not that I would vote for him, but he did come across more intelligent and informed compared to Ralph.
As you said, you don't live here anymore, but you call all of us idiots. You don't have a dog in this fight so what are you after???

quote:
In the two polls since Lyin' Eddie went negative JBE jumped up to 46% and the undecided vote jumped 12%. 48% of those undecided voters said they were leaning toward JBE. That poll only dealt with the primary. (0.46 + (0.12 * 0.48)) * 100% = 51.76%. That poll also had a 4.2% MOE which puts HBE within the MOE from winning in the primary. The poll released today had JBE at 47% and 8% undecided. Plus it had an MOE of 2.9% which puts him within a c***'s hair of winning in the runoff. Prior to Lyin' Eddie going negative, JBE was topping out at 48% when you added in the undecided vote that was leaning toward him.
That has more to do with the debate than the negative ad.
I was going with Abraham 100% until I saw the debate, Abraham was a bumbling buffoon. Eddie on the other hand was articulate, to the point and seemed to have a plan.
The sad part is that there is a ton of people that don't know the candidates, such as myself, util you see them in a debate. Abraham may be a good man, but he is a horrible candidate, no wonder his campaign keeps him hidden.

In Africa now and was desperatly hoping Chevron would counter. Don't blame them one bit.
We are the first casualties of the buyout and APC hasn't told us one thing. Feeling really disgusted right now.

Mistaway!!
I just had a unit installed last month. I work overseas and they installed it the day after I left. Wife is thoroughly impressed.
It's a little pricey and would have loved to try the DIY option but I'm only home half the time.

re: Let’s talk about Eastern Europe
Posted by fearneaux1 on 6/9/18 at 10:32 am to Mr Personality
Hate to burst your bubble Mr. Personality but you are wrong. Romanians most definitely consider themselves Eastern European and it has nothing to do with Communism.
I saw this thread and decided to present the question to the 5 Romanian nationals that I have working for me, it was unanimous, they all consider themselves Eastern European.
Where I work is like the UN, around 15 different nationalities from all over Europe and Africa.
One of my closest colleagues lives in Serbia, they still have it rough there. Romania has made progress though.
