Time Travel may become real at some point in time. But we are so far away from that point. As in it would not be until something like the year 3000 where that actually becomes possible.

Maybe at some point in the future they figured out how to travel to the past but doing so put them just enough out of phase that they are intangible and invisible here. Not having access to food nor water, they quickly die if they don't have a means to go back to their own time.

Time is linear, but aren’t all linear things relative to the plane in which they’re measured? So if you know how to manipulate the plane, time would no longer be linear as we perceive it now.
To your point, our perception and memories are linear, yet we all get deja vu. So maybe the plane is occasionally broken and we’re able to acknowledge or perceive things outside of the timetable we are working in.

Zero chance. There isn't a way to beam into the future, either. You have to hit light speed, or orbit a black hole to stop time on your body. But that isn't time traveling like we think.

What if it has but that's the catch? And the fifth dimension is the "reality" you find yourself in and the fact that your time travel is a one way ticket?
Sliders and quantum leap covered this really well and I think it's the most likely scenario.
So that's it. You go back to a time you want to but things are a little off being that it's a different reality. Then you get sent back to your "reality" only that's weird too because you've literally fricked with space time and entropy is a bitch that must be paid.

The fabric of time decays when approaching a black hole, so in that sense time skipping forward in time is possible so in my mind it’s probably the reverse on the exit side of an event horizon so theoretically we can travel both backward and forward in time.
But if at any point in mankind’s future we figured out backwards time travel, you know some idiot scientist aided by an idiot politician would have been sent back already to say “look at me I’m from the future!” and that probably would have found a way to kill everybody on the planet.
The reality is we are all going to kill each other before we make it to that point.
