There’s around 150 acres on the north shore (Covington) my wife and I want to timber because it’s literally just sitting there and we are paying property taxes on. What’s the going rate for some matured pines and will the timber company pull all the trunks up as well?

To clear it to flat land? 1000 per acre I would guess.

That’s another reason why I want to clear it to get the poachers off. We found a few abandoned trailers on it that was not ours or my in-laws.

Depends on how many bd ft you have. and they usually don't pull trunks you have to do that on your own. best bet would be to sell the trees and replant and let the old stumps rot

You're stripping the value of the land for a few short term shiny nickels. Sell property if you don't want to deal with it.

I’ll keep them off if you let me hunt for free

And you’re not getting near 1k an acre

You are better of asking this on the Outdoor Board where someone can point you in the direction of a forester in the area. You want someone working on your behalf to do what is best for your land.

It’s in a rural area of Covington (off old military road) which I think in a few years will be a hot spot for residential and commercial development. No one in my family is big into hunting—seeing what we can do now to make a little coin. I’ll ask to move this to the outdoor board.

Do you mean stumps? Either way the answer is no.

Old Military rd is a nice area but there won't be any more commercial development closer to this neck of the woods than what there already is. Not sure that any more volume of residential development closer to you really makes your land more valuable.

I'm legit curious generally speaking what your land tax cost is if you don't mind answering.

Depending on the trees and maturity, you could make a nice little bit of $$ on the timber.

Get a reputable Timber guy to walk it

You frickers have ruined the NS.

Also if the property is not right off of the highway or a state road you are in for a huge PITA dealing with the parish. If you have to access the property from a parish road it going to cost you and good luck finding a timber guy to even mess with it.
