One of my favorite Drunk History episodes is about Capone and his syphilis.

He's a Syphilitic Moron

I find it a bit funny that to validate your point about Al Capone’s life you referenced a movie. Especially when I’m giving OP shite for getting history lessons from Hollywood.

I really thought this was common knowledge. Al Capone is probably the most notorious American in history. I thought it was widely known about the Income Tax, STDs, Chicago.

I actually worked on This movie and had no idea about the syphilis until I read the script.

Friend,

The info in that video is false. Symptoms of syphilis do not include "urinating pus." Primary syphilis symptoms include enlarged lymph nodes near your genitalia and a painless sore in the genitalia called a chancre. Secondary syphilis symptoms are similar to cancer: fever, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, and body aches. You might also get a rash, headache, or start losing your hair. Tertiary syphilis causes brain dysfunction, stroke, and damage to your blood vessels.

How else would people under 40 have heard of him? Al Capone's vault? That's also from the '80s.

There are millions of people now who only know about Charles Manson b/c of a recent movie.

Well there was this guy named Benedict Arnold...

You may also have heard of John Wilkes Booth

Sorta OT, but I’ve been meaning to ask if you taught History of Film at LSU years ago?

Yeah if we’re debating common knowledge, I’d say the fact that he was nabbed for tax evasion is more commonly known than his syphillitic brain.

Funny you should bring up athletics.

I really enjoyed that class 30 years ago. Several athletes were in that class with me.

They enjoyed sitting close to me on test days. LOL

I did not know that, thanks for sharing friend. While not factually correct the peeing puss part certainly adds some comedic quality to the bit.

I would like to share a story that my Ag teacher shared with me when I was in high school. He described to me how he once caught ghonarrea and part of the cure was to smash his dick with a hammer like medical instrument. He claimed it was to eject the puss in his dick. The story was very disturbing to young redstick13. Especially since I was dating his daughter at the time. How is your knowledge of ghonarrea? Was my Ag teacher spinning a yarn to me?
