I'm not a fan of gubment policing the app store, but I also don't understand why anyone would have this app on their phone knowing all the data it was sending to china. even hardcore conservatives I know would send me tiktok links.

The cynic would say that with TT at least you know where your data is going. These other "American" companies just sell it to the highest bidder.

You understand that the government's hangup isn't that china is spying or mining data, but that they are doing it better than the companies that the US controls, right? It doesn't have a damn thing to do with "protecting" anyone.

None of this matters. Hundreds of data brokers get sold the information of any user of TikTok, etc., which gets re-sold, used by FedGov, which can be used to impersonate your authentication like FaceID. FB, Instagram, all do it too, even through they're American companies.
