if there isnt any minority players qualified to play in the masters then I dont think its the PGA's problem

if the reason is that they have a poor pipeline to incorporate both interest and talent from large portions of the population.... well... that is a problem for them, even if you re-frame it as a business problem instead of a social problem.

i havent seen the most current stats but i do recall a whole lot of worry about the downward trends in golf being played by younger folks across the spectrum not that long ago.

How can you say they aren't good enough if none play?

That's horrible logic

Vijay Singh has won 34 pga events, including 3 majors and a masters in 2000. He's black.

wtf are you trying to say?

Yes black people play golf. If one had to be good enough to qualify for the tour or the Masters specifically, then I guess they aren't good enough if you don't see them there.

There's is also the issue whether or not minority groups (like BLM) have standing to sue to compel the PGA to act, or even seek damages for their failure to do so.

Yeah that one stupid comment there about BLM should have been the signal for the admins to delete this bullshite of a thread. I know they like the clicks that stuff like this gets though

It's not just minorities. Poor people can't afford to play golf.

It's not the PGA's problem to solve poverty.

Ever thought that the problem is the lack of young black kids who actually play golf? PGA caliber golfers have been playing golf since they were little kids. Tiger Woods' dad had him playing golf since he was a toddler and coached him at it throughout his childhood. If more black kids started playing golf at a really young age, there'd be more on the PGA Tour. But golf isn't viewed as a "cool" sport, so most kids don't even give it a thought

I can say they aren't good enough because they aren't on tour.

Pretty simple actually.

Golf and it's club owners strategically and blatantly kept blacks and others out of the sport.

Please explain, I worked in the golf industry for years and never once saw anything like that.

I'm sure it's a similar comment to most of your other comments, bullshite that you made up.

Well, if they don't play them the odds are against them being any good.

come on, you dont think that for decades there was a white male expectation attached to clubs? really?

this has evolved for many (not all - you and i both know there are some that miss the old days)-- but if you felt excluded from the scene you would likely still be slow to want to jump in yourself or sign your son up to be a part of it all... and if that pipeline is broken, its an issue for the PGA (both not acquiring fans, or maximizing talent coming in)

the pga as a business would be wise to try to further shed the stigma that the sport acquired.

This is wrong. There were most definitely white caddies.

There were no white caddies at Augusta National before 1983 which is the year the players were allowed to use their regular caddy..
