As a helicopter engineer I worked with used to say, it's not if a helicopter goes down but when.
Sad news.
Sad news.

IIRC, the offshore baws train for this, and they say it’s a bitch to get out of a flipped chopper in the water.
My brother had to go through helicopter crash training before going offshore in Alaska. Said it was similar to the training they show the Navy pilots doing in Officer and a Gentleman, but with five other people.

I rather not speculate on the cause by seeing one photo and especially one that shows little of the aircraft airframe and rotating components. Many things can be attributed to an accident and to speculate here is way too early. It will be investigated thoroughly and the preliminary report will detail it.

I don't think that photo is correct. An AW139 is larger and has retractable wheels

not sure either, it says BP photo?
ETA: unless it stands for Bahamian Police, but they do have a Coast Guard

Not surprising. A lot of the times the media will grab a file photo and use it with their story. I was just going by what was posted here.
Yes, the AW139 is a wheeled aircraft and much larger.

ETA: someone must have bought Walkers and rebuilt it, it was wiped out by a hurricane right before I moved from FL,, used to fish out of Walkers for years
Carl Allen bought Walkers last year. We rode up there not long ago and not much had been done yet. I am sure that he will do it right when he gets going. Beyonce bought Strangers just to the south a couple years ago. The Chinese have put in a port in the Abacos. The place is hopping.
So sorry to hear about this tragedy.

when I heard it was Walker's I thought it was kind of odd that a high roller would be hanging out there, especially with his college aged daughter and her friends, there's nothing to do there but fish or dive
ETA: maybe he was looking at investing in re-development?

Not to speculate or cast shade in any way, but college aged girls love taking social media pictures, if they can, in these exact settings.
Sounds like everyone was living life to the fullest just before they got clipped by Father Time...we should all be so lucky, I suppose.

I get that, what I'm saying, and it really doesn't mean much in light of this tragedy, is that Walker's, and I love fishing out of there, is boring af if you are not an avid fisherman or diver, there is literally nothing else to do there

if that is indeed the helicopter crash site then that helicopter is not floating and the floats have not been deployed. This helicopter is sitting upside down in the shallows.
they probably crashed hard and flipped over in the shallows drowning in ~6 feet of water. I hope they were all knocked out, I cant think of many worse ways to die than drowning upside down in a helicopter in the dark

They guy's yacht (Mine Games) is bigger than Tiger's. I think you could find something to do other than fishing and diving.
On the sun deck are a bar, outdoor dining areas, a whirlpool spa, a fully equipped gym and a Turkish bath and shower. The raised helicopter deck can be converted to lounge/sunbathing area with movable furniture and covered awnings.
On board are a Castoldi jet drive tender and four Yamaha Waverunners.
