Probably both. It has been glorified to some extent. Glorification of thing will always draw more people towards it. I could see this occurring with adolescents and very young adults.

More open + a skewed perception of how prevalent homosexuality really is. There is significantly more media attention on gay people, rights, issues, than is representative of the amount of gay people in the US population.
I recall seeing a poll recently where young people were asked what portion of the US population was homosexual. The response was something around 20%-25% when the actual population is closer to 2%-5%.

I was playing Fortnite the other night and noticed one of the male skins in the game started to give me a boner.
