Not letting loose of my 2010 Tundra.

Just turned 300,000 miles yesterday. My son put some new Hook Road Bumpers it for its 300K day.

How the hell did this happen?

And why cant we make the chips here? Even with the higher cost the ability to actually SELL the truck should outweigh it.

Once the semi conductor issue is fixed There will be a ton of new vehicles 2 or more years old sold by dealers for real cheap, as the new models will be out by then.

Not how it works, these are pretty much all pre-sold anyway. The Broncos that were sitting outside this summer have been delivered, same goes for the trucks.

2019 production numebers:
F-150 704,691
Super-Duty 369,085

10,000 trucks parked in parking lots looks insane, but when you build almost a million trucks per year, thats 3 days of production, doesn't take long to move and sell them once the parts arrive. The parked vehicles come and go in waves, the goal is to move production up and down as much as possible without just idling plants for extended periods which causes a lot more problems especially employee retention.

The idea that tens of thousands of vehicles are going to hit the market a year from now after sitting for years in a parking lot is complete nonsense. Dealers in the US had 3 million cars in stock in Dec. 2020, that numbers has been hovering at under 1 million for months now, it will take a lot of catch up to normalize those numbers.

We can and Intel for example is building a US plant.

They are extremely expensive and take a long time to build. The risk for investment is high because by the time you get one built Taiwan will have caught back up and undercut you on price.

We NEED to do it but some entity has to take the risk and US consumers have to be willing to pay a higher price.

I can't say this for a fact but IME US consumers are the most price conscious of any first world country.

We are building plants here in the US. Unfortunately it will be 2-3 years before its up and running ($20B in Arizona - Intel)

Lol, frick you.

My point is it seems like having their flagship new vehicle sitting out in the snow is a bad idea.

Im not sure what shithole you live in but many car dealerships do in fact have covered parking for their inventory.

Keep trying keyboard warrior.

Probably a ton of environmental and other regulatory red tape to get a chip plant off the ground which is why they are made over seas to begin with
