What subject? It is a general relationship subreddit.

Why do I read /r/relationships? Well.. why is this thread 6 pages? There's your answer.

Women: if they are naked, have them do a handstand and they all look the same.

They only work if both partners are mature and mentally stable enough to handle the sight and idea of their husband/wife with another woman/man.

And both partners have to be seeing someone for it to be balanced. It can't be one side.

Why get married in the first place?

I get that you are tired of being with each other for 20+ years, but that's what divorces are for.

I don't get how so many people on TD keep talking or at least mentioning BBC in any thread involving extra martial relations or any thread about a black guy that has any hint of sexual overtones. Jesus.

Thoughts On Open Marriages

contributes to destruction of the family unit...

just like the marriage license contributes to its' destruction if divorce comes up. in the old system, the men got the children 100% of time...the system usually held the family together, because the females who bonded to the children stayed instead of strayed, but now it gets destroyed
the commies win...you never knew it was communism, did you?! what else do you think community property meant?

open marriage...it's satanic and appeals to men mainly

Open marriages also only work if both partners detach the emotional strings from sex and see it only as some fun and relaxing thing to do and no different than shooting some holes at the golf course or going on some cool arse rides at six flags.

Very few people are capable of doing that and if they can do that, the concept of open marriage will succeed for that couple.

But why not?

Because marriage is dedicating your life to another person and putting that person and your growing relationship above your own needs.

quote:

Why can't I have my cake and eat a little more cake on the side, especially if my wife is aware and ok with it?

Are you OK with kissing the other guys cum off your wife's lips? Are you OK with possibly coming home and seeing your wife getting railed out by some other guy? Or a different guy every day? Do you really think you and your wife can both frick other people and never develop feelings for them or lose feelings for each other?

You haven't answered that question. And if you think your wife is going to just let you frick other women and happily wait at home for you to see her sometimes you're insane.

quote:

I haven't seen any legit reason against such an arrangement yet other than responses along the lines of well that's not how it's always been done or some personal insecurities that some posters have projected that are unique to them.

If you don't want to dedicate your life and your self to your wife and you want to just go out and bang whatever you want and have your wife at home for when you strikeout or need your clothes washed, 1. That's amazingly selfish 2. That's not marriage. Just don't get married.

quote:

And no one has offered a real suggestion as to how to approach the subject.

"hey I love you, but you aren't enough for me and you never will be. So I want to frick other women. But only me. You are not allowed to frick anyone else. And you will be happy about it and never complain"

Try that.

I'm not sure how anyone can say in a serious tone that open marriage is a real thing. You're completely diregarding the vows to each other and breaking everything that marriage stands for by doing this. If you want frick multiple people, don't get married. It's pretty simple. On top of that, it's financially smart (just in case)

No.

If another dude tried to work my lands, if have to tell him....

It takes maturity? No, it takes a certain level of sociopathy.

Dude, you watch too much porn. Do you really think there are attractive women lined up waiting on some married guy to find the time to run over, bang em, and then head on back to the lil woman?

Woman take time, and $$$, in order to close the deal

Time and money that you owe your wife for putting up with your daily crap

And then on the other hand, you're putting your wife in the same category of those sluts you hope are out there, one who drops her panties in an instant, and then runs back home to have dinner and a snuggle with you before bedtime

You're a piece of elephant dung if that's how you view your future wife

***(or youre marrying a really ugly chick, and you aint worried)

My wife and I have threesomes/foursomes (guys and girls) and we've been happily for over 10 yrs. We are always together doing these things so I'm not sure that qualifies as an open relationship. Our sexy life has never been better.
