I'd rather bring a tablet of paper, a pen, and a good book.

I don't need a gym. Give me a floor, gravity, and a strong tree branch, and I'll make it work.

Didn't realize how many people on here actually did this. A neighbor recently suggested I attend one of these retreats in Amarillo. I brushed off the suggestion at the time, but now I may rethink it.

Man, think about how liberating a silent retreat would be.

I go on a non silent spiritual men's retreat every spring with my church and it's awesome

We do have some silent time throughout the weekend but also social time ...worship and talks by a speaker. It's in the woods and we bunk up in cabins...big fire at night

..great weekend.

Went once. Everyone I tried to talk to was a real a-hole and didn't say too much.

Just curious, what venue is does your church use for their retreat?

I go and I love it. The food is awesome. The grounds are immaculate. The tranquility is truly relaxing. Go once, and if you get nothing out of it, then there is no need to go back. But, I went once...and I've never missed since my first retreat.

Go in the Winter, though. I heard the mosquitoes are crazy during the summer.

ETA: whoa, heck of a bump!

Does anyone know of similar places here in Florida? My Dad used to go to Manresa yearly and I never went with him.

Now I'm interested. Any help would be appreciated

It's actually kind of refreshing from the hectic everyday world, no cellphones or devices to distract you. You can stay in complete isolation if that is your wish as well with limited contact with others. I think that is what it is designed for.

I don't believe that there is an Ignatian retreat House in Florida.
