I like Covington and Mandeville a lot. There definitely are more women there who fit my profile, as well. I would move there if the circumstances were right.

Because sometimes the traffic to get onto 1-12 West is backed up 2-3 miles.

That hasn't happened for a long while. No getting on I-12 still gets backed up but not on I-12.

Lived in Beau Chene before we moved out of state. We would move back to that neighborhood in a heartbeat if we moved back home for whatever reason.

Definitely one of the best places to live in Louisiana if you had to be here. But no way I would want to commute to the City everyday for work.

What do you call a "long while" because it happened last week, one day around 5 pm.

I think the people saying traffic isn’t bad are probably some combination of retired, work from home, no kids, don’t go out much.

If you’re working in a different town, have kids in school and doing activities, have your own activities, you’re going to be dealing with some traffic. Of course some people have ideal situations where everything is close and traffic isn’t a big factor

That's rare since they opened up all of the lanes. I live off of 21 and travel that stretch of 12 everyday. If you are talking about getting on 12 from 190 then, yeah, that can get backed up but 12 hardly ever gets backed up even with construction.

What’s the consensus on the Lewisburg neighborhood?

Looking at a house there potentially

You'd be wrong, but it's very dependent on where you live. I can get from the causeway to my house in 15 minutes or less in afternoon traffic, unless there's a wreck or something of course. And ever since they finished the first phase of I12 widening, I've had very little traffic on I12 for most places I go, which was a major issue back when we first moved over here.

As others have said, there are some specific roads to avoid in teh afternoon that most residents are aware of. If you need those to get to your house, then yea your commute sucks a little bit. But let's not pretend that isn't an issue on the southshore either depending on where you live.

Ever since they expanded I-12 the traffic has been substantially better.

Conversely, I'd say that the people saying traffic IS bad have never lived or worked somewhere that has truly bad traffic. I lived outside of Houston in Katy for several years and commuted to the medical center, Baytown, the Galleria area, and even Galveston for awhile. THAT is traffic. Getting onto 12 from the causeway or getting to Covington Lowe's from Mandeville is not traffic.

Lewisburg is awesome but it floods. Anything south of Monroe Street in Mandeville floods pretty easy with a tropical storm or greater and that includes Lewisburg.
