I removed the plate holder on the front and filled the holes with color matched 'bumper plugs' from a website of that name. I went ahead and bought a color matched plug that fills the door lock on the drivers side as well. Money well spent.

What purpose does a plate on the front and back serve?
I think it's for the cameras at toll booths. The states that require them (at least those in the NE) have a lot of toll roads. When we go through the EZ pass lane it takes a picture (front and back) if you don't have a transponder.

I seen recently you can get the European plates in Texas front and back...

If by pretentious you mean fricking stupid, sure. And I loved having European-style plates when I lived in Germany. But we don't have them here, so why bolt on a fake one?

Too much try hard. It's ridiculous.

the only place you can get away with american tags is the UK while you wait on your plates bc it takes like 60 days.
Yeah, in Germany I tried to pull that shite while waiting on my permanent German plates (they wouldn't issue until I replaced my tires, which had to be ordered) and they shut it down with the quickness. Good thing I had the temp plates issued at the VPC in my car.
On another note, I drove around DC/NORVA with Bahraini shipping plates for about 6 weeks.

Thoughts on European license plates on front of car?
I actually like the way they look. I would never put one on my car unless I was required to by law, but they look good IMO

European delivery car. Never felt like taking the plate off.

I wouldn't take the plates off if they came with it but I wouldn't put them on my car because I only drive 'Murican when I am in the states but right now I am pimping around a Hyundai I-10 and it has the front plates but they are required by law.

It's easier for the license plate scanners to pick up.
Exactly. The only purpose it serves is to make the state keep tabs on you easier.
Those 19 back plate only mostly southern states have it right.

I have bull nuts in the back euro plates in the front of my lifted F350.

Vanity Plates Link
It's just vanity plates for show. No different than having a LSU plate on the front of your car or truck.
