Thoughts on Denver, CO

I am usually not the type to bring my personal life into TD. However, I appreciate the input of people from time to time.
My work offered me a job in Denver today. I currently live in Dallas and I am single, in my late 20's with no ties. My only ties are that my friends & immediate family are all within a 6 hour car ride. The increase is a 20% increase and a larger role. It would be a good career move. But, socially it would be difficult.
I have no friends or family in Denver or anywhere remotely close at all. They are all in the surrounding Texas states or in Texas.
Has anyone made the jump from Texas to Denver? What're your thoughts?

If you can't make friends in Denver with the scenario you've described there is something terribly wrong.

Do it. You will make new friends there. Denver is a much better place to live than Dallas. Your smart friends will make trips to Colorado for visits.

I made the jump from middle of fricking nowhere Alabama to DFW with no family or friends here. It's the best thing I've ever done. You should definitely take the risk and do it.

I hear a lot of good things about Denver... but also that living in the city itself is very expensive.

It’s a cool city. But like you, Id have a really hard time separating from friends and family.
I do have a wife so i wouldn’t be quite as alone but I still get the dilemma.

Different for me b/c this was to go to college but I went from Chicago suburbs to LSU knew literally no one and it turned out to be the best decision I ever made. It’s tough stepping out of your comfort zone but you learn a ton about urself.
If there are plenty of jobs in Dallas in ur field you could always move back if your miserable. Just my two cents.

Have friends that live in Aurora and Fort Collins. They absolutely love it and I love to visit. Denver/Colorado is a pretty cool place in general. I would do it. Microbrews, Snowboarding, and so many outdoor things to do year round.

the Front Range of Colorado is a top 5 place to live. Id prefer Co Springs just because Denver traffic sucks but I would choose Denver over DFW in a heartbeat

These are all great reasons to head to Denver, CO.
I've done a lot of work out there and I'd move in a heartbeat if the wife didn't despise cold weather.

Also i always tell people, give it a go. The worst case is that you don't like it and move after a year or so. It's worth the risk.

Id say try it and if not, you should be able to find another job back in Dallas.
You really have nothing to lose. Family still close (I'm guessing a 2-4 hr flight away at most)

Glenwood Springs is where I hope to move back to. Love that area.
