Matter of preference. We have built 4 houses for ourselves, and our kitchen and guest bath are the only rooms without a fan.

I have to have some type of air circulation

Just don't go cheap and I don't think it would look bad

We removed ours when we installed recessed lights, but our ceiling is much lower than that (older house).

I really think it is your personal preference. Maybe include the wires/box for mounting one, and you can always add one later?

hell. no. A fan is a much cheaper alternative to cranking down the AC in the entire downstairs.

I cannot imagine not having a ceiling fan. There are very decorative Hunter ceiling fans that can fit that room. Go to their website to see the full line up as some are exclusive to Lowe's, some exclusive to Home Depot, etc.

I consider ceiling fans a necessity in the South.

Building a house right now

I prefer a fan. If you decide against it, I would suggest you at least have the house wired for one in the event you change your mind.
