Thought the OT might enjoy the special the local True Value ran this weekend.

I don't have problem with tiki torches, but the timing was.....unfortunate.

From their facebook page today:

quote:

Rio Rancho True Value
2 hrs ·
Today we were made aware that an advertising sign we had put up on our hammer marquee may have been perceived as offensive.
Please know that we were simply trying to sell our red, white and blue tiki torches, the same tiki torches we have sold for nearly 30 years. These particular tiki torches have the stars and stripes on them and are called "Patriotic."
We deeply regret if we have offended anyone. We celebrate America and it's diversity. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Rio Rancho True Value

Its diversity, not "it's diversity"

I must have missed something, cause I don't know which minority group is supposed to be offended by this.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, Rio Rancho is a total dump.

I think it’s because all those white suprematists who marched on Charlottesville last year were carrying tiki torches.

It's both hilarious and sad that some people now consider tiki torches to be a symbol of racism.

Should have priced it at 3.50 or 3.SIXTY-NINE. Would have gotten a lot more business.

What’s funny about the unite the right rally is there wasn’t any violence, none whatsoever that I’m aware of, until “peaceful” antifa showed up the next day when and the cowards outnumbered the right wingers.

Lying hypocrites caused that woman’s death. We’ve had neonazis in this country for decades, and we haven’t had a single official lynching since the ‘80s, as is widely accepted. Left wing extremist antifa shows up, and we’ve got millions in property damage and people dead in the streets within a couple years.
