I requested this thread to be stickied - hopefully this OT community will not let this type of thinking go away.

The slain officer is indeed a martyr and it's a tragedy that we lost him.
It's worth noting that the officer was likely sympathetic to BLM in that he didn't like being profiled/stereotyped and was disappointed in some of his fellow officers.
We all owe him for trying to protect people from the a-hole murderer though. I feel the worst for his son and wish things werent the way they were.

The admins typically don't sticky stuff that is "opinion"...they stick to the facts pretty much. I am glad what I posted got such a positive response, though. I had a hunch I wasn't the only person who felt this way, but I wasn't sure. Good to be reassured that I am not the crazy one...

Not sure...but I think something had over 900 upvotes not long ago.

I think he and the other slain officers are all guys our community could rally around. Truly a senseless tragedy.

Will he and the other officers get a mural?

Considering Sterling had celebrities like Beyonce talking about him and Mr. Jackson will not, I doubt his GoFundMe or the other officers slain today will come close to the 750k.
Those were national goons who donated to the Sterling cause. I feel like the local community will rally around the slain officers here and raise a nice amount of money.

Alton Sterling should NOT be the face of your cause. He is NOT a martyr. Nothing he did in his life should be what your people aspire to and look up to.
Wish I could upvote more than just once.

One of the most heartbreaking things I have seen. That pic in general caused several tears to be shed on my keyboard...

Great post.
Unfortunately you are preaching to the choir here. The race pimps, agitators and the media haven't figured out how to monetize black on black crime so it's a side story. The real money is in sensationalizing the race divide.

It is just a shame to me that the many fine, upstanding black people that I know don't have a positive, unifying "voice" out there. I haven't spoken to any of them about it, but I can guarantee that most middle-class, decent black people would say that people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton do NOT represent their views for the most part. And how many working-class blacks did you see at the corner of Airline and Goodwood all those nights? Not many...

Yeah, because that's what happened. Sterling was "executed". He was unarmed and handcuffed and dropped down to his knees and executed.
What a piece of shite you are.
