John Georges trying to control the BR/Nola news narrative AND make us pay for it? I think not.

I agree 100%.

However, i’d much rather have to deal with annoying ads than pay a fixed price out of pocket for certain products, like Nola.com... ESPECIALLY if i have to pay *and* be subjected to ads as well.. it’s one reason i’ll be cutting the cord soon on cable, since on basic cable (not premium channels) I have to pay and also have to sit thru commercials if not dvr’d.

I'll give yall the headlines for free.

Multiple dead in rash of overnight shootings
Multiple dead in rash of overnight stabbings
Thousands flood due to roads being built higher than doors
More people dead due to gang violence
New Orleans is still a shite hole

Do what other successful news companies do. Hire good talent and let companies advertise on your product. Who wants to throw money at shite?

Even though TD is run by capricious autocrats, the minions of Satan himself, surely they are rejoicing at this news.

TD superseded NOLA.com four years ago as Louisiana’s most read media outlet. This will only ensure TD’s ascendency continues (along with my posts here). This last ditch effort by those morons will result in a more rapid decline, just as a paywall did for The Tiger’s Lair in 2002, which allowed TD to take off.

Not saying i agree with it, but would it be sustainable to keep it free like it was?

There's this thing called advertising. But you need site traffic for that. This won't help.

I get all the news I need from right here in the OT. I will be willing to pay up to 10x what I pay here for a subscription to nola.com.

That is a crazy price. Just open stories in incognito mode and never run out of free articles.

Not to mention 90% of their articles have grammatical and spelling errors. Maybe they need the money to hire an editor/proofreader.

For a real news site, I might pay it. I subscribe to the WSJ and have no issue paying for it because of the quality. But the Advocate/TP is just garbage in its present form.
