Well they don’t even know if that’s exactly what he’s going to do. It’s a hit piece and it’s preemptive outrage from the Starbucks weirdos.
Here is some more info from an article yesterday.
quote:
When he steps into the job, he will be eligible to use Starbucks’ plane to "travel between your city of residence and the Company’s headquarters" in Seattle, the filing said.
quote:
Niccol will be allowed to fly on the company plane for "business-related travel in accordance with the Company’s travel policy" and "your personal travel in accordance with the Company’s policies, up to a maximum amount of $250,000 per year,
quote:Yahoo Finance
Niccol will have a "small remote office" in Newport Beach, California, which the company will work with him to get up and running, according to Starbucks’ SEC filing.
The company also told FOX Business that Niccol will be on the road visiting stores and other locations related to Starbucks’ business or at its headquarters most of the time. He also plans to maintain a home in the city, according to Starbucks.
He doesn’t even start working for Starbucks until Sept 9.
He has a remote office in his hometown, and he has a place in Seattle.
He must be about to actually make Starbucks efficient and get rid of a lot of the nonsense if they are already that scared of him.

To be fair, that was under the previous regime. Let's see if he keeps it up.
He will. He wouldn’t be there otherwise.

Maybe he’ll make Starbucks less gay and you guys can enjoy a cup of coffee without bitching

I’m with a fortune 10 company and our SVP lives in Denver and commutes to L.A. every week. Comes in Sunday night and leaves Thursday night. WFH Friday

I worked for a midsize company that had offices in Manhattan Beach and Austin and some of us traveled weekly to and fro (normally those who moved to Austin from SoCal after relocating HQ) while others went monthly.
This shite is nothing new and companies all over do it - this just happens to be Starbucks, so people blow it all out of proportion.

Chipotle is nothing but hype.

Subtle I have corporate jet access brag
And I'd do the same thing. Seattle is not a nice place anymore

I hate Starbucks so it sucks I’m over here defending this asshat.
But you are right. It’s the Starbucks people who are blowing it out of proportion.
1. He hasn’t even started.
2. They are basing their outrage off of assumption because Starbucks requires Hybrid employees in the office 3 days a week (but the article says they don’t know if that applies to him)
3. He’s going to have an office in his home city
4. It’s all made up outrage. This person Dan Coatsworth, an investment analyst at AJ Bell, must think that a $105B company can only be run from one location. Apparently he doesn’t realize that probably 90% of the business side is run via video conferencing. Does he know what a CEO even does?
quote:
Mr Coatsworth said while using a private jet was not only bad for the environment and would send a bad message to customers and staff, it was also "ultimately not a practical way to run a $105bn business with an estimated 400,000 employees". "A leader needs to be at the heart of a business, not sitting on the beach enjoying the perks of the job," he said.

He's in demand, and well-regarded in his field.
He dictated the terms, and Starbucks' board wisely agreed.
Winners win.
If he can't turn it around, he'll be out.
CEO's have about the same shelf life as an NFL head coach.
