they've found the backpack that they think is his, know he came in on a bus from atlanta and stayed at a hilton then a hostel, tracked his bike through the city after the shooting and into the park and then onto a transit station

This guy was smart. Apparently stayed in the city for over a week before committing the hit. Burner phone cash
He definitely left the bag on purpose.

A murdering coward who ambushes and guns down unarmed men by shooting them in the back should never be a "folk hero."
When you find out what people think of these health insurance companies, you'll see that many will in fact look at him as a hero.

That would be “Without a Paddle” is the movie you are talking about.

D.B Cooper didn’t murder anyone

They probably know who it is. Probably just tracking him to who else is involved

Took them 1.5 months to finally arrest Bryan Kohberger for the Idaho murders. They believe they knew he was the killer somewhat early on but needed more evidence. They were tracking him though

Exactly. Therein lies the rub.

I’ve had a couple times in my life when insurance companies have pissed me off or put me in a bad spot.
Neither time did I consider murdering the CEO. WTF is wrong with you people?

I’ll say very up in the air on how far he will get. Had it been a normal guy he killed I’d say he’s golden. Given the attention it’s getting out of the gate I don’t think he makes it forever.
It takes a good bit of skill and also not an inconsequential amount of luck to pull the escape off.
Technology also helps close the gap so much quicker these days. Scanning crowds, roads, transactions, etc… is just faster so you don’t get a buffer.
If he got into a nearby smaller town very quickly, and had transportation waiting (say hopped a bus to PA, got off at a stop that wasn’t his ticketed, and was able to get in a car without attention (or security camera) he could get a pretty good lead on LE. If willing and able to cross a border and just vanish with a little cash…he could get pretty far.
Assuming he’s just a normal dude with a little gun experience, patience and a plan I don’t think he makes it forever but maybe several years. In the coming week or two, they will have a very short list of possible suspects if not already. If they are seriously looking though, someday you get a dumb luck encounter and your fake/stolen ID throws flags or your dna/finger print shows up somewhere during a random unrelated situation you just happen to cross paths with or…

And so many people on here were blaming law enforcement for bungling the case and not giving the public a play by play of the day’s findings.

Yea, its a catch 22 for sure. Tell the public to keep them informed and feeling safe or slowly let out strategic information to make the suspect think you are nowhere near finding him....
